Im new to the board and just recently got engaged! My Fiance and I want a coastal maine wedding.
Anyone had any experience with the lighthouse at SMCC for ceremony & wedding? What about Ocean Gate Resort? Bradley Inn? We have looked at many of the bigger oceanfrony venues, but they seem to be outragously priced.
My budget for EVERYTHING is $15,000 (minus the cake a family member is making) for around 80 guests.
Is this do-able? Any ideas that would fit into our budget would be greatly appreciated.

What part of the coast are you looking at. I live in the seacoast region, so I only know about the venues south of Portland.

I am looking for anything south of Lincolnville, Maine. I would like somewhere where the ceremony/reception are in the same place, but that’s not a dealbreaker if not.

Have you looked into the Inn on Peaks Island? Their pricing is very reasonable, but this makes them very popular. More importantly no high minimums. The ferry ride is short, but the Portland hotel rates could be high. We considered them, but decided to get married closer to where we live (Mass.).
We didn’t look at the Bradley Inn, but I used to work there during the summers when I was in college. I know they used to do amazing weddings. The owners are super nice.

@beachbride22: The Portland Company’s “Room with a View” might be a good fit (can accomodate up to 110) if you want a view of the ocean but are okay with not having an outdoor component of your day. The cost of the room is very reasonable, but you do have to account for needing to rent everything from tables and chairs to catering equiment.

Check out the Camden Yacht club. We had our wedding there September of last year. Our attendance ended up being just under 100 people.
Our ceremony was across the harbor at the Camden Library Amphitheatre.
Here are some recaps:

FYI SMCC is super expensive. I think it’s $50/head. I also looked in this area for an outdoor wedding because we live in Portland but found an Inn in Hampton, New Husband that has an outdoor pavilion. Think outside the box and look into historic places, Inns and state parks.

Portland Company and Ocean Gateway in Portland are both beautiful and pretty inexpensive and conveniently located – and both are BYOB and catering so you can really save, and beautiful interiors that don’t need too much decor.

I actually went to a wedding at the POrtland Company last summer and though it was an unbearably hot night and there wasn’t enough ventilation it was an awesome wedding and a great location.
