I’m on Seasonale, which is basically the same, just a higher dosage.  It is AWESOME!!!  What you should do is just start taking it like she prescribed it, and then 1-2 weeks before your wedding, do the week off pills that are a diff color at the end of the pack, and then finish up the normal pills.  This just moves your period up 2 weeks so that you’re back on the pills for 2 weeks before and during your wedding.  Then start the next pack as you would without stopping.  So you’ll have no period for 10 weeks, then period, then 2 weeks + 12 weeks on the new pack with no period.  ONLY do this if you’re going to do another pack after.  If not, then take the week off pills somewhere in the middle of the pack and then continue the pack til it ends.

@ossmith: If I’m looking at the calendar correctly, you should be getting your period the week of May 15-21 if you start Seasonique on Sunday, February 20.  Your period should be pretty much done by the time of your wedding on May 21.  Do you prefer to just not have it the week before your wedding?

Because I didn’t want to have my period during an overseas trip, I started my birth control after waiting an extra month.  I didn’t notice any major side effects.  But if your menstrual migraines are really bad, you might want to consider just starting it on February 20 and dealing with getting your period the week before your wedding.  Otherwise, I think waiting for your next cycle is fine.  Obviously, make sure you use other forms of birth control during the month you are off the pill.

On second thought, you should probably just take do the pills at the end of the pack 2-3 weeks before your wedding because when switching to this type of BC there is often break through bleeding for the first year.  I had it the first 3 pill packs (so 9 months).  Having your period 2-3 weeks before the wedding should ensure that you don’t have any breakthrough bleeding around the wedding.

Feel free to PM me since we’re basically on the same thing.

You could just keep taking pill and avoid sugar pills til after wedding. The nice thing about those birth control pills are that the drug amount is the same compared to other that have a step down on quantity of hormone.  I change my around as needed and sometimes just keep taking hormone to avoid period for another  month.

@ossmith. I think that is so great.  I congratulate you two for waiting.

The nice thing about the pill which is why I take it is that is really controls my PMS.  (mood swings, cramps, bloating. exhausted and over all bi***chness).  I could feel it coming and I would warn my Boyfriend or Best Friend know my fiance.  I could barely stand myself LOL.  It has been great for me but you are right that you need to see how your body and mind react to it.  I hope it all works out for you.  Good Luck and have a great honeymoon 🙂

I am on seasonique and started spotting after I missed a few pills. It took over a week of me taking them exactly right for the spotting to stop. Super annoying. i wouldn’t worry about a UTI unless you have other symptoms, when I have a UTI there is no doubt about it because of the pain and urgency. If you think you might have one they actually sell tests at the drugstore that can tell you if you do, I’d recommend that before you go to the doctor.
