(Closed) Seating chart and/or Place cards

Place cards at the table are great! Definitely not overkill.

We used a mirror and our decorater wrote the names with gold marker. I would suggest a darker colour because it was tough for guests to find and read their names.

Yes I think it’s a good idea to put place cards as well if they’ve chosen their meals before hand. It will be hugely helpful to the servers. I find that with seating charts usually just dictate which table they’re at without saying which seat to sit in. Fine Dining servers prefer not to come to the table and ask who’s dish is which because it’s generally considered poor form on their part. Also, because guests will have ordered their meals so long ago they might forget what they ordered.

I’d ask the caterers how they normally prefer to do it as well. They might also appreciate a copy of the seating chart to have behind the scenes so that they can double check it before bringing the food out.
