The big day is only a week away so it’s definitely crunch time!
I’be been working on my seating chart, we’re just having assigned tables, but I need input on my FI’s cousins. Most of his cousins (on both his mom’s and dad’s sides) are around 20-25 but all still live at home while attending university or just finished and have started their careers. When talking with Future Mother-In-Law she expressed that she liked the idea of having a “cousin table” for all FI’s cousins in that age range (there will 8). I liked the idea as well and tried to make it work in our seating chart, however, I’ve found it difficult to fit in a couple of his aunts & uncles this way, which requires adding an extra table and then many of his family’s tables will only have 6 or 7 people, while they can fit 10, as well as cause a complete headache trying to rework the tables again.
I’m just wondering what others would do. Would you add in the extra table so the cousins can sit together, or mix it up and sit them with their parents, thereby having less tables (i.e., more room to move around!)? Keep it in mind, some of them will still be seated at the same tables, just not all together.

I’m in this boat too, I didn’t realize how many odd numbered families I have. Me personally, I would put them with their parents. Really, they are only going to be there for dinner and speeches. After that people start to move around

Give them their own table! They will have a much better time getting to hang out with their cousins as opposed to their parents.

laciekate: I love my parents but I LOVE LOVE LOVE my cousins and would waaaaaaaaay rather sit with them all! I did this at my wedding – two “kids’ tables” of cousins and two tables of aunts and uncles.

I would try to do the cousins table. While I don’t mind sitting with my parents at weddings, it is always really nice to socialize with the cousins we don’t see much. Likewise, the parents would also enjoy sitting together for the same reasons.

Definitely do the cousins table… I loved those at family weddings. Plus having an extra table makes people a little less squished all around.

We have two cousin tables and we’re excited about it! I think they will all have fun!

I would much rather visit with my cousins. We are rarely all at the same place at the same time so I love having cousin tables at weddings!

Just becuase they live at home doesn’t mean they wouldn’t VASTLY prefer cousins table. If within your budget for an extra table (linens and centerpiece), I would DEFINTELY go with it.
