So I want to have a seating chart for my wedding. But I don’t exactly understand how to account for all the unknowns…Here’s a few of my concerns:
How do you assign people’s dates when they don’t give you a name? Do you just have an escort card for the person and account for them to use 2 seats at the table?
How many extra people do you account for to come that don’t RSVP? And where do you put them if they come?
Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks Bees.

I think putting ‘and guest’ on the escort card is okay, or you could ask one of your bms to call those who rsvp’d to bring a guest (wait until close-ish to the date of the wedding) and ask who they’re planning to bring so you can print them up with names. Maybe that’s not super polite though? I’m not sure on the correct etiquette on this one!

I had two 16X20 framed seating charts but not any escort cards. I knew a few guests were bringing dates but I didn’t know their names so I just listed our friends names and assumed their dates would know where to sit. Our tables could hold a max of 9 or 10 people so I just didn’t pack all the tables full so when unexpected guests arrived, they just found somewhere to sit and it all worked out. I just kept track of who was sitting where in an Excel spreadsheet and printed it out the week before the wedding.
