I like your set up.  We sat with our backs to the window in our venue, and it made for a gorgeous background for pictures.  I also like that the guests are closer to you.

Are you having a cake table? Escort cards/seating chart? Gift table?  Favor table? I would put the tables for extra stuff on the sides with the windows to push the guest tables into more of a square.

We got married in July, so by the time it got dark, we were no longer sitting there…. so it’s hard to say if that would be an issue.

I like your set up better.  I could see why he wouldn’t want to cut across the entire floor to get to the dancing, as in your FI’s suggestion, but the pics will be so pretty with the windows behind you.

My opinion is that you should sit at you diagrammed in Setup #1. You will be sitting there for such a short period of time, you might as well be in the middle of the room. You can enjoy the view for the rest of the night.

I definitely like your set-up better for the reason you mentioned about being further away from some guests.

I definitely like your setup better – it seems more intimate.

Though there’s nothing wrong with your FI’s setup, it might make the space feel more grand.
