That’s why we didn’t have one. We just reserved xx amount of seats per table for family (3 tables).

Good luck. It sounds stressful!

panda_bear3 :  Don’t let it stress you out. When it comes down to it, it’s just for dinner. They can all move wherever they want after the meal is finished.

It’ll work out!

We struggled through this too. The toughest were how to seat people on DH’s side because I didn’t know them well enough to know who would (or wouldn’t) get along. We ended up having my Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law plan out their friends and family and it worked out perfectly.

Also, minimum of 8 per table is dumb. I fully support making up tables of 7. I think the venue can figure it out.

Seating plans are horrible we’re having 600 guests at our wedding and it’s all family, very difficult who sits where

You will be  fine.  Can you mix some of your Dad’s relatives with some of fiances? I think that can work, as long as people are close to same age, or have something in common.   Are you inviting the officiant and his/her partner?   You can use them as “fill-ins.”

You’re doing pretty well if you are only waiting for 18!  Our wedding is 28 days from now, and we have only recived 60% of our RSVP’s – so still waiting on about 35 – 40 to come back with a yes or a no.

If we don’t hear from them, I guess we just assume they are a no?
Gah.  I want to start working on the seating plan, but can’t until we know who’s coming!  🙁

panda_bear3 : We put it as the 20th of Septemper.  Knowing that we’d have to follow up with some (didn’t think this many though!) and wanted to be able to start working on it a few weeks before hand, so that there was lots of time to adjust it if needed, but we could focus on other things.
But yeah, like 60% so far I think.
And some people we contacted last week for a reminder, still haven’t done it!  Gah.
Our wedding is on the 30th of October.

panda_bear3 :  Yup, just another thing to do undecided
If it wasn’t so many, I wouldn’t worry about it so much, but it’s not just one or two people, its heaps. Gah.
