Definitely wait until your first fitting. And for what it’s worth, I think those dresses look VERY similar so I don’t think there’d be a point in getting a new one, especially with the changes you described. I love your original dress. Maybe you’re just getting nervous about the fitting.

And no, you’re not alone. I know of several brides who have had dress regret. Some act on it, and some don’t.

I like the first dress MUCH better… the mermaid on the bottom is just a bit much for me…

But alas.. even I have had 2nd thoughts about my dress and I had lotsa bee’s tell me just today it looked gorgeous on me…

I think we all go through it with this “image” we have of bridal, dress, wedding, argh!

You’re not alone. I was going through the same thing before I had my first fitting. Just wait, don’t act on any “let me get a new dress” impulses you might have and  wait until you have your first fitting. When I went to mine, I fell in love all over again πŸ™‚

I am dealing with the same situation as you are! I ordered a dress online from David’s Bridal. Since I couldn’t try it on beforehand, I was hoping I would love it as much as I did in pictures. Wrong. Even though it is gorgeous, and looks even better in person, I don’t like it on me. My first fitting is next weekend, so I plan on taking it in to have it pinned to see if I like it. But they have another dress there that is triple the cost of the dress I ordered, but I am IN LOVE. I have been in love, but kept going back to the dress I bought. Since it was online I decided to go ahead and get it just to see if I liked it, and I don’t. Maybe my mind will change once I have it pinned and it fits better? but if not, I’m getting the dress I LOVE! So you’re definitely not alone, and I wish you the best! Go with your heart though! Thats what I’m doing. there is no way I am walking down the aisle in a dress that I do not absolutely love!

Here are the links to the dresses:

Dress I bought-

Dress I’m in love with-

And the more I look at the second dress, the more I hate the first dress. ugh. haha

@agirlwithdreams7: If it makes you feel any better, I tried on the second dress at DB. It didn’t look nearly as good in person as it does in the pic. :-/ I hated it even though it was on my “must try on” list.

@FutureMrsMcDermott: Sorry you didn’t like it. =/ Of course, we all have different taste when it comes to actually trying things on. I know the first dress I was skeptical about because it doesn’t look all that great in the picture, but looks higher quality and prettier in person. So I guess we will see once I try it on πŸ™‚

@agirlwithdreams7: Were you able to try the second dress on? I was trying to abate some of your dress regret, lol. But yea, I was really suprised I didn’t like it in person. I was really excited for that dress! Boo!

I love your first dress! I would wait until you have your first fitting and can see what difference the alterations will make before you decide! If you still aren’t loving it I would track down the other dress and see if you like it better.

@agirlwithdreams7:

I also tried this one on and it wasn’t as great as I thought.  You’d have to be tall (I’m not!) to pull it off! I really like your first one and I didn’t compare prices but it’s probably more affordable too.

I’m not one to offer advice since I’m on my THIRD (and final, because I love it!) dress.  But those doubts can really nag at you!  Maybe you should try it on just so you could see.  Then you’ll at least know and not be wondering…

@futuremrse: Yeah I know, won’t be able to know until I try it on. I’m not short either (no offense lol) I’m average, 5’6″, but I’m also going to be wearing super high heels too, so we’ll see if it looks right πŸ˜› If the second one doesnt work then I’m sure I’ll find something eventually, I just don’t like my first dress, too stiff. I want something more flowy and romantic.

I like the first one better… seems more fitting for your venue also.
