This is probably a dumb question… but after you’ve found your dress is it normal to second guess it?
I originally went in and wanted to try on a dress and ended up getting something a lot more fancy than what I inteded to get. The original dress they said had been discontinued but I can still purchase it online. The one I ended up getting was also way over budget but my wonderful Granny and Mom helped me with it. I just can’t stop thinking about the original one and am not sure what to do or if I’m just over thinking it.
I really appreciate the help!
Here’s the one I purchased:

And this is the one I can’t stop thinking about:

It’s normal. I had dress regret and luckily for me was able to exchange it. At the end of the day if you don’t love your dress look into options off exchanging it or selling it online to help pay for a new dress.

@apolkadot: I tried on the dress you’re lusting over and in person it looked very cheap and awful. The one you bought is similar but looks great and not cheap at all! I would sick with what you have!

@apolkadot: The top on the dress you purchased is much prettier!! I’m not sure if second guessing is normal or not. There are a lot of threads about dress regret. I haven’t had a moment of dress regret (knock on wood) – but I tend to fall in the “not normal” category. LOL

I had some doubts, feelings that I rushed into the decision, etc. But those went away eventually because 1) I’m changing the neckline and beading of the dress to better fit my vision, and 2) once I got into the nitty gritty of planning everything else, any concerns I had over the dress took a backseat to food, music, flowers, etc. Doubts are perfectly normal, don’t rush into buying another dress yet!

@apolkadot: I think the first dress looks great on you! I might have a biased point of view here though because it’s the dress I got. 🙂

I didn’t have any dress regret. I got a sample and decided in like 10 minutes to buy it and then had it shipped to my home. I was worried I would have dress regret, but when it arrived and I put it back on, I knew I had made the right decision!
I think the dress you got is 5000 times better looking than the dress you can’t stop thinking about!!! In fact, I wouldn’t suspect it as a DB dress, except I can tell you are in their dressing area (lol). The dresses are SO similar (the ruffles) and I LOVE the train on your dress. What is it about the dress you want that you like more than your dress?? Perhaps you can do some alterations to your dress to give it the “oomph” that you are seeking?

Thanks everyone for you help! I am going to contact DB and see if I would be able to exchange it but I’m not sure I will since the one I love is cheaper than the one I bought… We’ll see. I’m sure you guys think I’m crazy for going for something so much simpler than the one I want but I feel like it’s more me. I am going to check out the dress Monday (DB had one left on the floor) so I can feel the fabric and compare it to my dress. I didn’t even look at it since I was told I wouldn’t be able to purchase it since it had been discontinued and they only had the floor model in a size 16 and I’m a size 8. If I hadn’t gone online to print pictures of the dresses I tried on for my wedding scrapbook, I wouldn’t have seen that I can still order it on their website. 🙁
@PeachSnapple: The dress is completely gorgeous but I feel that it’s too much. I’m not much of a flashy person and the simplicity of the bottom dress is what appealed to me. My wedding theme is also Casual Elegance and with my fancy dress I will kind of stick out. My maid of honor and a bridesmaid think I’m being silly but do understand. I’m also home sick and probably over thinking everything. I just feel like I was in the moment and bought it just to buy a dress.

I second guessed my dress, then ended up hating it so I order another one…now I’m much happier with it!

@apolkadot: Read your reply, and I think that the dress you got would fit in very nicely with your theme of Casual Elegance! (nice theme btw!)
I definitely second you seeing the dress you like more in person and seeing the fabric and how it feels/is made. In the end, you need to get the dress that makes you the happiest!

@PeachSnapple: Thanks. I’m hoping that by seeing it in person that will crush my love of it and I can fully love the one I bought and be done with this mess and mentally check the dress off my list and continue on with other things. 🙂 I appreciate all the help!

@apolkadot: YES! My dress that I am currently waiting on is my 3rd dress. My first was a simple, actually, bridesmaids dress from David’s Bridal. My 2nd was a look a like that I made myself and just could never make myself fall completely in love with because I kept seeing the little flaws in it. My 3rd was made a by seamstress that a friend of mine knows in another state. She is awaiting the final payment to send it to me, but I must say it is the one!

You’re dress is GREAT! I think you’re making a mountain out of a mole hill. You have a beautiful dress. The dress your lusting after is very simple and would probably not make you happy ultimately. It’s your wedding – you should feel a little fancy and sparkly.
