Long wedding planning vent ahead…
So, as the title says… I am literally second guessing EVERYTHING about the wedding planning we have done up to now, except for my fiance and photographer!
It all started on Friday… wow, what a day it was! My day started off awesomely with not much to do at work for once, and a pretty sizable bonus.. yay! So then I went to look at the pavilion we are going to rent for our wedding, which you can’t rent until 9mo before the wedding.. annnndddd… IT WAS BOOKED FROM 8AM-2PM!! i was LITERALLY freaking out!!! I called them, and the girl I needed to speak to is off on Friday and Saturdays.. so I called the front desk. (Now mind you, this is a ski town, so the folks are VERY nice, but also young! lol) and asked him what was going on… and he said it must have been booked internally for their Little Learners program. He was SUPER nice as I was trying not to break down and cry on the phone, and put me in touch with the woman in charge of that program.
So, I left her a message thinking maybe they can let us set up early, or cancel that day, or maybe they were on a field trip, etc etc. While I was waiting for her to call me back, i convinced myself my 2nd choice option was ACTUALLY WAY BETTER than my first option anyyywayyyyy… AND THEN! the Little Learners lady called me back, again, wayyyy super nice, and told me she could move the week for her program. Apparently, she scheduled some weeks ahead of time because last year she couldn’t do the program due to too many weddings scheduled there!
So, Friday was super high –> super stressful –> super high.
And now, I’m wondering if I should look at other venues. I’m getting married in the mountains, but we don’t have a good mountain view. I think that is what is bothering me the most! Oh, and we don’t really have a solid rain backup plan (i’m expecting an afternoon shower, then nothing, as is how it goes in the mountains most times.). I know we can make it work in the rain, but we really want our wedding to be outside and fun (ie lawn games, playgorund for the kids, volleyball, etc… I know it’s not what a lot of you want or have had, but it’s what we want)
The other venues i looked at are easily $2500+ more than our budget, though. To put it into perspective, we want to buy a house and pay off our student debt, and while our parents are helping us pay, I just can’t justify spending $5k more than what we already are for a wedidng when we have other plans. I’m really trying not to get sucked into this wedding hole!!
Has anyone else gone through this? I almost feel like I’m trying to make sure OUR wedding meets everyone ELSE’S expectations … and I need to stop! HELP! lol
