So, I put down a deposit on my wedding dress a couple weeks ago, but now I’m not sure I made the right choice. It was between Pronovias “Alma” and Mikaella style 1454, and I chose the Mikaella. Has anyone else bought or tried on this dress? Does anyone like it?
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting to like the dress AT ALL, but when I tried it on, it fit so well! And after trying on 40 dresses, my family said this one seemed the most “me” and it fits in well with our “modern-picnic” inspired red and white wedding. I should say that I LOVE the back of it and that the dress is not big or ornate looking, but the neckline and the bow are what I’m unsure about since I was always planning to buy a dress with a sweetheart neckline.
I only have one picture of me in it since the bridal salon didn’t allow photos to be taken…my mom snuck a quick photo in the fitting room (!), but it’s so close up that you can’t see most of it, which I think takes away from the overall look of the dress. Also, the dress was a few sizes too big on me, so I had to hold it, and because of the size, the peaks of the neckline are quite a bit bigger than they’ll be on my actual dress. If you google “Mikaella 1454” you can see it a lot better (but I actually don’t like it on the model very much for some reason!) Also, in the pictures on the website, it shows a brooch on the bow, but I’m having the brooch (but not the bow) removed.
Basically, I just need a little reassurance I think, so….do you find the dress hideous/so so/grogeous? Honest opinions greatly appreciated 🙂
Thank you so much!

this dress is gorgeous! once it’s fitted to you, i’m sure you’ll love it. it can be sort of scary to buy a dress – it’s expensive and it’s a very important part of the wedding for most brides. few brides buy the dress they thought they would. while this doesn’t have a sweetheart neckline, it has sort of a similar effect due to the peaks of the pleats.

From what I’ve heard, many brides have moments of doubt about their gowns. i know i have. I love your gown by the way.. this was one of the necklines i considered.

This dress is gorgeous- Mikaella gowns are made very well, based on the ones I’ve tried on. A friend of mine recently got married in a dress with a crumb catcher-type neckline very similar to the the 1454, and she looked even more fantastic once she got the correct size.
You’ve made the right choice 🙂

Thank you so much for all your kind comments! You’ve made me feel a million times better about my decision (I really should have joined this site a lot earlier!)
Also, in my above post I wrote “grogeous”…hehe, meant to say “gorgeous” obviously, but have no idea how to edit posts 🙂

Its so pretty! and different in a good way! Its not a dress that you see on every other bride out there. And even though you mentioned that the dress is not your size, I think it still looks great on your body so just imagine how amazing it will look when it is actually your size!

I think it looks beautiful on you, even though it wasn’t fitted to you yet!
I think the shape and the detailing suit your figure beautifully and I’m sure once you get fitted into the properly altered dress, you will feel like a million dollars (and look it too!) 😀
