@lauraashley09:  You need to look at a moissanite in person first.  You may like it, you may not.  I personally love moissanite far more than a diamond because of the way moissanite refracts light.

If you’re not sure then I wouldn’t get it.

Before you put aside the rings you picked out, I would make sure you can find a moissanite and setting you love. I went with moissy to save money and am SO greatful. I love the way my moissy has rainbow lights in it and I think it’s prettier than a diamond. However, some people don’t like that look. Plus you wouldn’t love your ring if you didn’t have a setting you adored as much as you do this one. Also, many jewelry stores in my area won’t work on my ring bc it’s a moissy so if you wanted to design your own setting, that’s something you would need to talk with your jewler about.

I would go with the moissanite because of the cost!

Since you are in Minneapolis I can recommend a store. I went to Arthurs which is a locally owned store on the intersection of Larpenteur and Hamline. They carry both Tacori and Verragio which would allow you to see the rings in person. I worked with one of the owners, Tyler Nogai, who was happy to set any stone in any of their settings. I personally wanted a green sapphire, and he had several shipped in so that I could see them. I’m sure he could order in some moissanites for you to see. Or you could always buy one online with a good return policy to decide if you like it. I’m sure Arthurs would set it for you.

ETA I think I found your setting http://www.arthursjewelers.com/Verragio-18kw-.15tw-diamond-ring/WRT-10367/

    and you band http://www.arthursjewelers.com/Tacori-18k-rose-gold-.43tw-diamond-band/RAD-15965/

I’ve also heard you can have a jeweler custom make a knock off designer ring for a fraction of the cost. Tacori and Verragio are very pricy just for the settings. I bet you could find something very similar for cheaper.

@lauraashley09:  Have you tried asking? Tyler seemed pretty happy to sell us what we wanted and spend quite a bit of time with us even though we didn’t spend very much. FYI green sapphires, while rare, are not very expensive I’m sure my ring would have cost more than double if we had bought a diamond.

Is money an issue? I don’t suggest anyone going broke for an e ring. If money isnt an issue than stick to what youve picked out (which is beautiful). If money is an issue look into moissanite or other diamond alternatives. there are hundreeds of threads on here didcated to moissanite

I have and love a moissy, so I’d vote for that… but I agree, you should see a moissanite in person first.  Preferably one that is similar to what you’d buy (ie an enhanced if you would buy enhanced).

Why don’t you order a moissanite and see how you like it?  Moissaniteco has a super easy return policy on their loose stones, so if you like it, great, set it in your gorgeous Tacori setting.  If you don’t like it, send it back and get a diamond.

I love my moissanite, but I was never attached to the idea of getting a diamond, and I never had strong feelings about the way that diamonds look.
