I know that many bee’s out there have been second-guessing their dress choices, but has anyone been second-guessing their dress color choice?
I am absolutely still in love with my dress, but I keep going back and forth wondering if I ordered the right color. My dress will be here anytime now, so there’s no time to change anything (and I still don’t know that I would if I had the chance) so I’m not going to post pictures, but I can’t help but wonder if I should’ve gone with the first color I had tried on.
I ended up choosing an Ivory over Oyster color rather than the Ivory over Ivory (the Oyster is a mushroom-y silver-ish color) because it really showed off the lace detail on the dress, which I loved. BUT, every time I look back at my photos, I feel like the Ivory/Ivory color looks more “bridal.” Once it comes in, I’m sure I’ll love my dress just as much as I did the day I purchased it, but looking at the photos makes me wonder.
Has anyone else felt this way?

I ordered mine in bright white because my mom wanted me to. It’s not a huge deal to me, I just really loved the soft color of the ivory. Small sacrifices, though…lol. I’m just hoping I love it when it comes in because I never saw it in the store in the bright white.

i personally love the ivory over oyster, it makes the dress look more vintage and really shows up the lace detail which i feel is lost on ivory over ivory dresses. I think you made the right decision and i’m sure you’ll be reassured once it arrives. I tried on a dress in both colour options and absolutely loved the way you could see all the intricate lace detail over the oyster. My mum isn’t taken on the oyster colour, she says its not traditional but then she’s not wearing it.

I second guessed every decision I made about the wedding. But the bottom line is you made the decision for a reason. You loved the way it looked. I’m sure it will look beautiful and you will love it again the second you try it on.

@cookiepeeps: I agree — and that’s the reason why I ended up choosing the Ivory/Oyster color. But I still wonder about it from time to time…. lol. I think part of it is that the color of the Oyster doesn’t translate as well on film, also. That’s funny that your mom wasn’t feeling the “non-traditional” color choices — I definitely thought that my mom and Future Mother-In-Law would protest, but we were all actually drawn toward many of the dresses that weren’t plain white/ivory – champagnes, oysters, blushes, etc.
@jo.lee: Haha I love that – “small sacrifices” – SO true, right? Luckily, my mom/FMIL were supportive and understanding about anything dress-related, but I have definitely avoided some other battles by ‘giving in.’ I know how you feel, I was scared about ordering my dress without seeing all the color options beforehand, so like a crazy person, I drove over 2 hours (to the only store “nearby” that had it) to see the other color option first. I’m sure your dress will arrive and you’ll love the color – it’ll turn out great 🙂
@roxy821: Yeah, I have a feeling that I’ll be just as excited about it once I actually see it again. I’m thinking that my photos aren’t as nice in the Oyster color, so that may be part of why I’m second-guessing it? Not sure.
Thanks for sharing your stories and advice, ladies! It’s definitely helped to reassure me a bit 🙂
