When shopping for a photographer for my daughter’s wedding, I took a tip from the Hive and contacted the really expensive photographer whose work I loved to ask if she could recommend a less experienced, up-and-coming young photographer whose aesthetic was similar; perhaps someone who had worked with her as a second shooter, etc. She was happy to do so, and we have been very pleased with our experience with the less experienced photographer, especially since her prices were only half of the next least expensive one we found. When we met today to review the wedding day timeline and a few other details, I asked who the second shooter would be and was stunned to hear that it was THE EXPENSIVE PHOTOGRAPHER WHO REFERRED ME TO HER IN THE FIRST PLACE!!! Now we get the best of both worlds – low prices and high quality. This is the first wedding-related good news I’ve had in quite some time, and I just wanted to share this story with other brides seeking photographers. It takes a lot of time to scope out hundreds of blogs and FB pages but if you can identify the type of work you really like, you might come up with the same deal. Just to be clear, we were not unhappy in any way with the novice photographer, but getting our dream photog in the package for the same price is such a blessing!
