I can only comment on the long/short dress issue because I am sorry, but I don’t understand the other part.

I don’t think it would look stupid having some in short and some in long but, for me, it wouldn’t look right. I need things to be similar and blend together to work. Maybe with what you are trying to do it would work, but since I don’t understand what you are really trying to do, I can’t picture it.

i’m having three girls on my side plus 1 boy.  two of my girls want short dresses, 1 wants long.  So im letting each of them get their way (thats how i feel now anyway, that might change lol)  It doesn’t matter to me if they all match, just as long as it flows nicely and the colors are pleasing.

p.s.  im not understanding about this arch thing, but it sounds really cool, i would love to see pics of this idea!

    oh i love that idea!

and i wanted to add about the dresses, i am alternating them short/long/short, i think it will look best that way rather than random.  but since you have more girls, i don’t see why it would look bad if the longs were grouped together and the shorts on end end.   Since they kinda have different functions, it makes sense that they don’t exactly 100% match

To me, alternating long-short-long-short or putting the longs together and the shorts together would look way weirder than a random assortment of short and long. Just my opinion, but there you go.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with having them sit down for the ceremony. Are you going to have them sit wherever? or in reserved seating? I know it wouldn’t bother me all as a Bridesmaid or Best Man to have to sit down.  I’d rather that then standing in uncomfortable shoes, haha.  But i would definitely talk to them about it, better they know sooner, than be blindsided the day before the wedding.
