so i went to David’s Bridal yesterday to look at different dresses. I fell in love with one at Alfred Angelo’s but since it was my first dress shop and my fifth dress people told me to keep looking around. And i agreed because that dress is almost double what i wanted to pay for my dress. So anyways i end up at David’s Bridal… and i was not impressed. i liked two of the eight dresses i tried on but only ok. they weren’t what i was really looking for. (maybe my other dress has my “dress blind”.) My sister had to help me into and out of my dress (yes. she even had to ask for clips.) the lady that was supposed to be helping me pretty much only brought me the dresses and keep putting a veil on me (I didnt want one.) they didn’t even ask what i liked and did not like, only told me to pick dresses outta the magazine they had. she also keep pushing for me to decide on something, so i picked 3 dresses to get her off my back- and then she asked if i was ready to make a decision on which one i wanted!!! um no. i’m just looking. c’mon now. and then when i was leaving she just was kinda rude, sort of upset that i did not say that i was gonna get a dress from them… i am afraid to go to other dress shops. I almost am ready to plunk down the chunk of change and forgo something else from my wedding day. was alfred angelo totally unique and i was spoiled by them? or was DB in the proverbial “wrong”?

Unfortunately, I almost worked for David’s and it’s a bad deal. The girls make minimum wage. They make a very small percentage of commision…so unfortunately lots of brides who are just looking tend to feel overwhelmed and bullied at David’s.
I went to David’s and HATED the atmosphere, so I bought my dress at a local dress shop and had a WONDERFUL experience with kind, loving ladies.
Just chin up and maybe try on that other dress again, it could be the one 🙂

It’s just DB. Go somewhere else. DB dresses are not as high quality and neither is their customer service. Unless you fall in love with something there, I say go somewhere else and talk them down in price. That’s what I did. I got an 1100$ dress for 850$ whereas a DB dress would’ve been only a couple hundred less. It’s worth the extra money to buy something you love, from a place that you LOVE.

I just had the greatest experience at DB. I walked in looking for a TTD dress at their 99 dollar sale. I saw them unpacking a brand new dress, even though the manager knew I wasn’t going to be buying she let me try on the brand new dress and helped me into it. It was so stunning, I bought it. Maybe you had a bad salesperson, or that store is run poorly.

I’ve been to both David’s Bridal and Alfred Angelo. Alfred Angelo definitely has better customer service because their sales people are consultative in their approach. They really seem to care to hear about your theme, colors, etc. so that they can match it to you and your dress. David’s Bridal is the opposite, in my experience. Similar to you, they pointed me towards the catalog, asked for what I liked and pulled it from their racks for me. However, I did have a consultant help me in and out of dresses.
I wouldn’t be dissuaded by your experience at DB’s. I would however suggest you continue looking and maybe use the Alfred Angelo dress as your barometer for the others you try on.
