I have had 5 colds and 2 flus this winter! My poor immune system is simply shot. I just can’t fight anything that heads my way. I crank up the vitamin C, I get my sleep, get my fluids and I’m still sick every other week. Now I’m sick a second time in two weeks with an upper respitory infection. My doctor has advised me to take off work for the week, but with the wedding coming up, I just can’t take anymore time off. Hopefully the stress of everything will go away soon and I can be back to my normal, happy, healthy self!

Yep.  I swear I have had a cold every 4-6 weeks since fall.  It sucks.  I had a sore throat last week.  I’m looking forward to spring.

Yes.  I’ve had to call out of work four times in three months.  That is not like me at all.  I, of course, got my hand slapped about it – but it was only verbal.  I told them that it’s silly to yell at us when we take care of geriatric patients.  I don’t think they’d like if I came in with a fever, puking, etc and be around the patients.  They agree with that, but don’t like us calling out.  …Sorry… I’m digressing.  Haha.  Hopefully it’s all over and done with though.  I’ve never been sick this much.

@ieatunicorns:  I just read your post.  I’ve noticed that a lot of our patients are getting sick more often (we also have adult patients on a separate side from the geriatrics).  There was a horrible bug going around last week.  I’m hoping it steers clear of me.

Ironic this post comes up tonight – I just pm’d a friend that I might not be able to go out with her tomorrow cause I think I’m re-catching the cold I gave my husband! I got sick two weekends ago, called in sick last Tuesday and have never really gotten over it. But today now I was coughing, sneezing, and my throat is sore again. Ugh!!

@hisgoosiegirl:  I remember you mentioning you were sick last week.  How crappy.  🙁 I hope you get over this silly cold quickly.

@Rouquine:  Yeah, I never understood why employers want you to come in when you’re sick.  It’s one thing if it’s just the sniffles, but one time I had strep throat and called out with a doctor’s note.  I came back and got a verbal warning.  Where I work, the place is like a petri dish of germs in the winter time.  Gross.

@hisgoosiegirl:  I am not sure where you are,but around here there is a lot of respiratory stuff going on because of how warm it has been this winter and it is actually allergies causing a lot of the “colds”.

@Rouquine:  Themain things we have seen this year is the noro bug (nasty GI bug but symptoms only last 24 hours or so), respiratory problems due to allergies and now the actually flu gearing up. We actually extended our flu precautions to June since the onset is so delayed this year.

I’m from upstate and I’ve been sick almost all winter. I also work with children (toddlers, infants and preschoolers) so it’s expected for me to be sick to some extent.

When I went to the doctors, and you KNOW I’m sick if I went to the doctors, he gave me medecine to treat for allergies and it got better even though my symptoms were presenting as a cold. The crazy warm winter has been really bad because it hasn’t been consistantly cold enough for all the germs and stuff to be killed

@MrsBlueSeptember:  We have continuing education classes/sessions at our hospital and the director of infection control specified that we shouldn’t come in if we’re sick.  I laughed and mentioned that we will still get in trouble for not coming it.  Others agreed with me.  She was like “Well…”

@ieatunicorns:  I’ve definitely seen the noro bug going around in our hospital.  Yikes.
