So I know many ladies on here have struggled with secondary infertility but has anyone had the opposite happen? Struggle to get pregnant with the first and then have an easy time with the second? Just wondering if this is a common scenario!

Not me personally but a friend of mine. Took almost a year with the first. They had an appt with an RE about 11 months in to trying but found out she was pregnant. 2nd time around it happened the first month trying!

MrsLondon : not me but my neighbor. She needed IVF for the first and then got twins for her second (unassisted) pregnancy!

Someone in my local support group tried for years and ended up using donor eggs to have her son, they were planning to use the remaining embryos for #2 but in the process of baseline testing, etc she got pregnant and had a daughter.

My Mother-In-Law did. She had an enormously difficult time getting pregnant with my husband’s older brother – multiple miscarriages, fertility treatments, it took a couple years. So they started trying as soon as advisable for the next one and 9 months after thier first was born she was pregnant with the second and my husband and his brother are only 18 months apart.

My mom. It took her over a year with me, and my sister was first try.
When I got my Mirena in after my son, my OB warned me not to take it out until I was 100% ready bc “you wouldn’t believe how many of my infertility patients get pregnant the first try once they’ve had one “. I hope she’s right!

this happened to me. We tried for 1.5yrs to get pregnant with my daughter. In that time, we had 1 CP and a missed MC, and needed Clomid to get/stay pregnant. Back in Dec, AF was late and I was shocked at how disappointed I was that I wasn’t pregnant again, so we decied to NTNP and see what happened. End of Jan I found out I was pregnant! so 1 month of not even trying to for us after 1.5yrs and meds to conceive our daughter. Currently 33 weeks pregnant 🙂

not the same but I tried for 3 years with an ex, got prgnant first time with finace while not really trying then had 4 years trying for number 2 and was about to start IVF (filled out the forms and was waiting for an appointment) and BOOM suprise pregnancy concieved on CD23 of a cycle we wernt trying on due to waiting for IVF but that pregnancy ended badly and now its been another 2 years of trying and about to start Clomid (again) because ovulation apprently stopped 6 months ago but the doctor montoring my blood hormones forgot to mention it
it seems quite common that pregnancies happen when you least expect them, like some kind of sods law and that often pops up with secondary infertility stories and adoption stories

Me, actually. I had a MMC, then tried for a year, ended up doing IVF for my son, and I’m very newly pregnant after 3-4 months of NTNP/trying.
