So we are getting married in a garden, so it’s not going to be too hard to do decor.
I think I’m going to use mini birdcages as centerpieces. I don’t know how I’m going to work that out with long tables. I’ll figure it out. ANYWAY, I want to use skeleton keys somehow. I don’t want 500 of them just laying around, but I do want to have them around…I just don’t know how.
Here is our venue

I don’t have any ideas, but your venue is gorgeous and I think that theme would work great there! It has that whole mystical/magical thing going on.
ETA: Maybe you can somehow incorporate it with the seating cards?

I dont have any ideas for the keys but I’ll think about it. I just wanted to say i LOVE your venue and theme, its going to be absolutely gorgeous!

Hanging from ribbons? Maybe off door handles/chair backs/centerpieces? Secret Garden sounds like a GREAT theme!

I agree your venue is gorgeous… your theme works perfectly here. Have you thought about using the skeleton keys as your escort cards? Just attach a tag wtih your guests name, then hang them up somewhere. Like this.

What a great venue.
Maybe you could hand out the keys as a favor/place card. You could put a cute quote like, “The Key to Love is ________”

Very nice venue 🙂
The first thought for the skeleton keys, for me, was to tie them with ribbon to the door of the birdcages with a short sweet note.

What a gorgeous venue!!! It is going to be so easy to decorate!
Skeleton keys were usually attached to large metal rings… Maybe you could drape fabric through the large rings with the keys dangling down and hang the rings from hooks on the front of the bridal table like bunting.
If you have an alter with a trellis or something, you could attach two artificial love birds or doves holding the ring with a couple of skeleton keys at the top of the trellis…as though they are getting ready to fly away with the keys to the secret garden.

Thanks everyone. I thought about escort cards, but right now we are having long banquet tables with no seating arrangement. I wuold still have cards telling people what table they are at. I love the idea of the doors and maybe getting a shot of our rings hanging from the skeleton key in the door.

I think I’m going to use these as place card holders.

@ashley5741: aww thanks! My writing and grammar suck! I have my own blog. I don’t think I have what it takes to become a BEE. But who knows. My wedding is 18 months away!

You could do a bouquet pull like Mrs. Sewing did. Have the keys attached to ribbons and each lady pulls a key.
Also, can you incorporate the keys into your centerpieces?
could you hang them somehow? or make them escort cards?

I think it would be pretty to hang them from the tress with your wedding color ribbon at different lengths. Good Luck. absolutely beauitful. I looked at a place like that in PA, i cant think of the name of it now! the outside was gorgeous, the inside…not so much! hahah.
