I’m from London too 🙂

May I suggest you check out Whirling Turban… http://www.whirlingturban.com/wedding_boutique/ Katherine who runs it makes AMAZING stuff and she specialises in 50’s style wedding dresses! She can customise them to what you are after if you have something particular in mind.I have quite a few (non wedding dress) pieces from her…   She is based in Bali however, but she requests detailed measurements from you and there are detailed instructions on how to take them yourself. Everything I’ve always purchased from her has fitted like a glove.

If you’re after vintage, have you looked on etsy? I get a lot of my 50’s vintage stuff from there. 🙂

You have already received some great tips from the previous poster, but I would also encourage to have a look on ebay — both co.uk and .com. Sometimes you can find some absolute gems there. It’s a lot of searching, a bit like going to TK Maxx or a charity shop, but there are some real treasures.

I, too, love vintage, and whilst I do not know any shops in the US, I have a few links for you. Most are UK size 10. Of course, I do not know your size or style preferences. In any case, I wish you good luck!

P.S. I just though of something else. Have you looked at vintage patterns? A competent seamstress should be able to create a dress from a vintage pattern without any difficulties. She can also change the size and proportions.
