I am!!! I’m happy to FINALLY see someone else! I know people will say Labor Day is horrible and bla, bla, bla. I work in government and so does Fiance and a lot of his family. Most of my guests dont have young children so everybody (so far) loves the date! They have all weekend to come to the NYC area and hang out. For the locals they still have most of their holiday weekend. Also, everybody I know is OFF!

I dont care who is against the date. I understand why some people wouldnt choose it for their wedding. I guess it depends on your crowd. The feedback from most of my guests has been positive.

For the out-of-towners, my wedding = a getaway to NYC. For the locals, they can have most of the weekend to themselves and then come to my wedding Monday evening. Also, my hotel had cheaper rates for that date then other dates I looked at. Most venues in my area were already booked for Labor Day so it must be fairly popular (atleast here in NJ).

What have you gotten done so far??

@Asia:  I have most of the major things done. I’m in a heavily populated area where vendors tend to get booked up by a year or two in advance.

I have:

venue booked (venue includes catering)

hotel block done

florist

photographer

makeup artist

DJ

videographer

ordered my dress in December and it doesnt come in until May.

I would suggest you get your dress NOW unless you plan on either buying off the rack or being limited to certain designers.

@Asia:  I’ve been engaged since August of last year. He is in the military so timeframe was an issue for us bc we never know for sure where he will be.

You have it under control too since you dont need a DJ, your mom is making your dress, and you are having a small wedding. Where I live venues and vendors book fast so I moved fast.

We had the hurricane here so I wasnt working for about a month. I got almost everything done in that month. A few other things I got done all in December. Usually I just set one day of the weekend towards meeting with someone, trying on dresses, etc. It worked well for me. Now, I can relax and just pay people off by the time the wedding comes.
