this is hilarious! We don’t live together so I haven’t had a chance to test this, but I can’t wait!

This is us…….. I am always screaming out about something I think has been misplaced, only to have him get up and find it within seconds. I think it’s getting worse too. I find myself doing this a couple times on a daily basis.

My dad is notorious for this, so clearly I take after him 😉

This is my husband. Except mostly its just selective blindness until I find it for him. Even if it is in a small space, like a refrigerator. And I tell him what shelf it is on. lol.

Yup, that’s me… at least a few times a week. It drives my poor Fiance up a wall.

In contrast, Fiance refuses to ask for assistance finding his pen/keys/mug/phone. It looks like this:

Fiance: [overturning couch cushions]

me: What are you looking for?

Fiance: Don’t worry about it. [opens oven door]

me: Want help?

Fiance: Nope. [shuffles through papers]

me: Ok…

Fiance: [searches frantically, unsuccessfully for additional 10 minutes] Hey, do you know where my pen/keys/mug/phone is?

me: Look over there. [points directly to item’s location]

… As far as I’m concerned, we balance each other out in this regard 🙂

I have a variation on this?  I “lose” something, but have a vague feeling I know where it is even though I don’t remember putting it there.  I ask SO if he’s seen it, he says, “No.”  We start looking.  I say, “I think it’s _______.”  We check, and lo and behold!  There it is.  (I did this with my house keys the other day.  I locked them in the garage after coming home from work – left them sitting on a workbench.  Thankfully, I had already unlocked the house, which is why I didn’t notice they were missing when I went to go inside our home.  A day and a half later, I started to wonder where they were…)

SO says I keep a good “mental map” of things in relation to myself/landmarks, even though I don’t remember the process of placing them wherever they are.

Fiance does this all the time and I feel weird knowing where everything is at all times.

“I can’t find my phone anywhere!”

“It’s on the sink.”

“Why is it there?”

“Beats me, but I saw it there a few minutes ago.”

“Uhhuh…oh hey, it’s on the sink!”

I swear Fiance does this all the time – he gets in a panic over not being able to find something, I cooly walk up point it out/hand it to him/say “isn’t it _____” and all is well. LOL

@Bebealways:  For everyone on these boards, one of the best reasons for getting married, and possibly THE best reason is:

You’ve got someone else in the house to hunt for your glasses/keys/that thing you just had in your hand a minute ago and now need.

And then, there is the comedy aspect of it. Darling Husband is delighted when I run around the house looking for my glasses and screeching for help in finding them and he finds them–on top of my head where I pushed them a few minutes prior!

Thank you OP for bringing up this topic, it is an important one in marriage, hahahaha.

@Bebealways:  From the posts on this thread it appears that some of us are finders, and some of us are losers. Losers of things, that is. I’m sure our SO’s love us and don’t consider us losers other than losers-of-stuff-around-the-house.

My Fiance does this all of the time! I hate it because it is usally when I want to leave the house and he can’t find the thing he’s looking for but won’t tell me what it is so I can help him!

It especially urks me if we’re doing something on the computer together (like booking camping last night) and he’s navigating but can’t find the area for reservations and it is directly in front of his face! Then when I point and say “Honey, it’s right here” he gets annoyed with me and says “I know!”

…Obviously, you don’t know LOL

Fiance says he’d never find anything if it wasn’t for me.

Apparently I keep a good “mental map” of where things are…he does not!!
