Well, I have two year old twins, a 40hr per week job and a husband in a government economic response team, so basically just trying to stay alive hour to hour.

We are both working from home how and have been for a few weeks.  Very fortunate to have jobs where this is feasible.

We’ve been trying to establish some new routines.  For example, we used to go to the local coffee shop every morning on our way to work for cappuccino.  That’s no longer an option, so we are making our coffee at home in fancy cups and making a little ritual of it in the living room on the coffeee table.

Watching stupid movies and eating tons of junk. Which is just our normal routine anyway.

Yeah….We have 12 week old twins and a barely 2 year old. And I go “back to work” from maternity leave in 2 weeks. We are trying to accept that we won’t have time for ourselves, or each other, until this is over.

I keep thinking that as I’m working from home, I could paint my nails and feasibly not do anything stupid to smudge them whilst they dry. Then I realise, I can’t be bothered. tongue-out

brittanyeide :  I got some great advice to try to heal in this down time, just like the earth is. We thought we’d have a chance at bringing our first child home at the end of the year after doing an IVF cycle in January and planning to do our first embryo transfer tomorrow, but our transfer got cancelled last Tuesday. We have no chance at getting pregnant naturally so 2020 marks another year with no baby. My birthday plans all went out the window (travel and plans with family) and I’m trying to adjust to working from home, which I enjoy but has its own set of obstacles. So with all of that, I’ve had the need to do a lot of self care. It’s much more difficult when you can’t just book a vacation and fly away from your worries or even go out and get a massage or a pedi! But I bought a gel nail kit and did my mani and pedi at home and I’ve been reading a ton. The fiction books I read are mostly mysteries and psychological thrillers, so those are a great escape from reality for me. I’m also reading a self help book on grief which is making me feel better about not being okay right now. And chocolate and wine help too 🙂

Honestly, I’m just trying to survive at the moment.  The industry I work for is getting hit hard, as well as the one my husband works in…so, we’re worried.  Then last night, my husband randomly decided to go into our crawl space to make sure our sup pumps were working…they were not and we now have 1 1/2 ft of standing water in our crawl space.  So, we’ll be working on that tonight.

I know self care is important and I need to figure something out soon so I don’t lose my mind…but yeah…just in survival mode for the moment 🙁

We are treating this like a hermitage or retreat- taking walks with the dog, meditation, reading, art and creativity, eating well and getting lots of rest and water. Following a routine helps immensely. I worked from home already so I’m continuing to do that. My husband’s work has been shut down, as has my mother’s, so we’re just being together in the house. It hasn’t been as stressful as I would have thought, but that’s been giving my the internal space to keep up with others and connect with friends who have been struggling. I tend to find something humorous in whatever is taking place, so I’ve been doing that with people as well.

brittanyeide :  Thank you!!!!  Once we get our crawl space drained, I’ll feel a bit better!  I’m definitely looking forward to the weekend where I can rest up a bit!

brittanyeide :  SO and I are right now working from home as I write this. He’s working in the spare bedroom while I do mine on the dining table. We are both exercising with a machine in the garage. We also have been cooking quite a bit and watching all our favorite tv shows and some movies.
