@blingybride:  I am, the only thing I miss is the security of having a regular salary :-).  I love the freedom but it is stressful at times, especially with the economy. I own an import/export company.  I love being able to write off travel on the business when we do product research.

I’m a massage therapist. I also miss having a regular salary… and having my taxes taken out ahead of time. I’ll always owe and never be getting a refund, haha. Right now since I’m actually starting the business, things are a bit slow and I’m not making as much as I would like. I also have to really put myself out there and network and talk to random people. Its hard doing that when I’m not just introverted, but have been “shy” my entire life. I’m getting over that shyness though, so this is definitely good for me.

I also miss getting dressed up and having a regular schedule. My sleep schedule gets wacky when I tell myself “well, I don’t need to work until noon….” haha. That doesn’t help with the slow business depression…AT ALL.

Thankfully, I know that I’m optimistic and patient enough to do this, and many of my peers have given up. I just keep on going because I see how successful my friends who do the same thing have been!

Ooh, me! I teach private piano lessons and am also a Total Body Modification practitioner.

@YogaFaerie:  If you are interested in learning any additional techniques that could help expand your business, I would definitely check out Total Body Modification! You can message me if you want my personal experiences with it.

I have actually never been employed anywhere besides being self-employed, so I don’t know what it’s like to have taxes taken out ahead of time or anything like that. I always thought it would be fun to get dressed up for work every day, but with my job it’s just not practical. Half the time I’m working with kids, and the other half is with patients, so it’s really not practical to wear a suit or heels. Haha. I also kind of hate being mostly alone all the time. I just graduated from high school last year, so it’s weird not being with the same people every day. Now I’m usually with patients who are much or at least somewhat older than I am, or with kids. It’s really taken a toll on me socially, because my boyfriend works with all adults, so we really don’t have friends our age.

Other than that, I LOVE being self-employed, and would never have it any other way!
