@MightySapphire:‘s mention of these policies only covering the boards – they actually cover the boards, bios, DIY and Gallery sections. 🙂

@canthugallcats: I definitely agree with this.

When I joined WB, I kept reading threads that mentioned the “self promotion policy”. To me, this was some airy, meaningless thing because I had no clue what they were referring to!!! You can’t expect people to know this policy if it isn’t posted clearly. I think adding it above the comment section would be superb!

@FutureMrsMcDermott: It’s pretty easy to find if you actually look for it. That said, I agree that putting a link in would be good, as a lot more people would check it out. : )

@Jenniphyr: I looked for the self promotion link when I first joined here. I couldn’t find it. Even looking now, I wouldn’t have guessed it was somewhere on this page because it says “Legal & Policies”. I don’t usually click on the legal parts on websites because I’ve done a lot of reviewing of other websites & in my experience, legal has a million paragraphs of wording that’s hard to sort through. I don’t think I saw the word Policy after Legal because I read “legal” & went on to the next one. Usually policies are on the bottom or top of web pages so I wasn’t quite sure where else to look. I did look just didn’t see it.

I just saw this and I think I violated it =(

Can my post be moved? Or do I have to report a new one to classifieds

@armychica06: We can’t move posts from the boards to the classifieds, unfortunately. Go ahead and repost in the classifieds though, and we’ll delete your original post here on the boards!

I’m not sure if one of my posts got tagged as running afoul of this policy, but I had a post that was deleted in the last day or so. It didn’t have any referral links (or any links at all), just looking for other local brides who would be interested in going in on a purchase together to save money. Didn’t get a PM or anything.

So if someone needs help with homework (ie. essay topics, grammar, whatever), they are not allowed to ask? Sorry, this really doesn’t seem like self promotion to me. Please clarify.

@lulucarmen: I think it directed at surveys that are for homework.  I don’t see a problem with asking about grammar problems and other stuff.  It’s the links that we are mainly concerned about.  A mod can correct me if I’m wrong about this, though.

@struiling: Do you know what your thread was called?  Did you check up at the top where it says “View your profile”?  All of the theads you created should be up there.  It might have been sorted into a different board, so if you knew you put it into the beehive and you go to look in beehive, it won’t be in behive.  Because it was sorted into another board.  If your thread still doesn’t come up, you can submit a support ticket in the Support board up at the top of the screen. One of the mods can look into it.

@struiling: Anything involving selling something to or buying something from someone else here on WB needs to be done on the classifieds. That’s what they’re for!

One more thing, sorry to keep expounding on this!

We don’t allow signature lines in any form.  That includes signature lines added automatically from smartphone apps, personal sig lines, photos, and professional sig lines.  It’s not so much about self-promotion as cluttering the look of our boards.

quick question! what about a link to my blog post that has general information about skin care, makeup that will hopefully answer a lot of the questions people have? when people who post in the thread are not looking for a makeup artist/esthetician but need help choosing self-care products? would that constitute self-promotion too?

Yes, sorry.  You are welcome to have the link in your personal profile, but you can’t post it on the boards or direct someone to PM you for a link or anything like that.  If you have information to share we prefer that you copy and paste it here rather than link to another site.
