Advice to anyone selling in the classifieds area, DO NOT sell to freemandan100!! IT IS A SCAM!!! I was selling a wedding dress and he wanted to buy it. i sent a paypal request to him to pay but he didnt want to do that, he wanted to send me a check. kinda a red flag there but i was willing to play along. then they wanted to send someone to come get it instead of me sending it to them. thought that was weird but whatever, saved on postage i guess. we were emailing back and forth which their email was a different name then the name on her, it was some chinese name and they had a lot of broken English…another red flag. Then yesterday I finally get the cashiers check in the mail. We had agreed on the price of $125…the check not only was from a 3rd party person but was for $2755!!!! i was like wth!!! i emailed him immediately and he told me that 3rd party person was buying a boat from him and HAD to make the check out to me and i was just to deposit the whole check then rewrite a check out to him and keep the part that was mine. UM NO!!! why couldnt that other guy write him a check and he write me a check for my $125? why this 3rd party guy involved in my part at all? my Fiance was yelling at me that it was a scam. I wrote the guy i didnt trust it or him at all and there was so many red flags going off. I said if he was really interested he would pay me through paypal and let me send it like a normal person. He still wanted to do it his way so I told him not to contact me anymore and the sale was off.
I just wanted to make sure to warn other bees not to sell to this guy. I was lucky enough to see it for the scam it was before I was taken and I would hate other bees to get hit by this guy too. I already contacted weddingbee.com and warned them to flag him but if anyone is currently working with him BEWARE!!

@jbbs1222: I wonder if there is someone to monitor the classifieds and deal with these people.

kinda wonder if its the same guy with a bunch of different names. ive been looking at a bunch of other posts by other bees and they all sound the same as mine. Says he’ll throw in extra money to “consider it sold”, will send a mover to come get it, wants your address, refuses to pay with paypal, bad spelling/grammer, and sends cashiers checks for over amounts. Theres a lot of scams on the internet that they do that and then you send the rest back or something and then they have access to your full account and can take everything! But everyone on here says their scammers always doesnt contribute to the boards at all either. but just somethings to watch for

@jbbs1222: how this works is NOT that they clear your bank account out or even that they learn the details of it in a way that can compromise it. You will not lose “everything you have” but you will lose the value of the goods you are selling and the amount you have given them over and above the purchase price.
What happens is that their cheque will not be honoured but you will not discover this until too late. Here’s a couple of links that explain it. One is relevant to UK bees, the other US. But the practice is the same wherever you live:

I was lucky enough to sell my dress to someone else on ebay who emailed me like the day after I sold it to him. Shes so happy its availible again. i told her what happen with this guy and she couldnt beleive it.
Princessbubblegum i already heard back from Weddingbee. they blocked him from this site so hopefully no one else gets hit. he emailed me back when i told him the deal was off saying i was stupid and rude to call him a scammer! I was like in have no problem calling you out for what you are! and not sure why you are still contacting me as I told him the check is shredded and the dress was sold to this new lady.

I wonder if you can just cash a check like that and not send the rest back. You know….beat them at their own game? I would donate it to charity to make sure my karma didn’t suffer, but I still wonder.
