Yes this is a classic scam.  They will retroactively cancel the check once you send them the money.  Dont do it!

These are money scams. I used to work at the bank and these would happen to people all the time. basically you will put the money in your account then send her the overage in that time frame the moneyordershe gave you to deposit wil lcome back as fraud and you will be out the cash you sent back and a dress. I would send this money order back to wheere it came from!!!

Did she say why she sent so much? Idk… the fact that she is asking for money back from you after the fact is weird… R u shipping it to Oklahoma or to France? So many oddities I can see why you are weary.  If possible, I would wait it out and see if you get another offer.

Classic scam.

I used to work at a bank- it’s extremely easy to purchase a money order in ANY amount that you choose. You have to tell the teller what amount to put on it before it’s printed out anyway, so it’s JUST as easy to have it printed for $415 as it is for $2500.

If something seems too good to be true, it is!

Insist on Paypal only and do not even respond to potential buyers who question your terms of payment. If they are legitimate buyers, they won’t have a problem with that.

If it was legit, she would have paid the $415, why send more than the amount to ask for some cash back? Do you do that? Make out a check for $2500 to your phone bill and ask them to send you the difference from your bill… no, so rip up the money order (take a picture of it) and if she contacts you again, report her to the website’s mods.

Total scam.  Anything with check/money orders online are usually scams.   There’s a whole thing on the craigslist help section explaining it.
