When I sell, I always use paypal. The site takes a fee to transfer the money to your bank account (which I didn’t realize the first time I used it and started freaking out trying to “find” my money!), but it’s generally small and worth the extra step. Plus, I feel that it’s safer. The money gets transfered pretty quickly from when the buyer pays the requested amount and to your bank.

Could someone please educate me on how Paypal works? Do you choose “request money” from the seller and they just send it to you? What guarantee does the buyer have that you’ll send them the merchandise, and can the seller be sure there is no scam like a credit card chargeback later on? Does Paypal take a commission out of the money sent?

I’ve used escrow.com to sell my dresses because their guidelines were straight forward to me. I just couldn’t quite figure out how Paypal works but I’d love to know for the future.

@meliss: When you are the seller, you do a money request through Paypal.  They will send an email to the buyer, who has to pay with a bank account or credit card.  The buyer is protected with paypal’s buyer protection.  The seller protection policy prevents chargebacks for item not received or unauthorized payments.  The fees are up to 2.9% of the transaction amount.

I have never had any problems with it.  I make sure that I have buyers with verified addresses and always ship with insurance and a traceable method to cover myself.

I’ve purchased several items here on wedding bee and everyone uses paypal unless doing a face-to-face pick up.  It protects both of you and prefered by the honest people….lol

I have purchased several items here and definitely use paypal.  It makes things go smoother.  Just a couple of tips, try and post pics and also how much you would like for each item.
