I just stumbled upon Landoll’s Mohican Castle as a ceremony/reception venue and it is absolutely gorgeous. The only problem is that most of our guests live in Northeast Ohio (Ashtabula, Cleveland, Akron, Warren) with a few out-of-state guests and I was wondering what everyone thought about asking guests to drive 2.5 – 1.5 hours away for a wedding?
There are plenty of nearby lodging options and a few rooms on site but they will only accomodate about 65 people total. We are planning to have around 200 guests I think. I was thinking it might be a nice weekend getaway along with the wedding! Please let me know your thoughts!

have you watched the Kitchen Nightmares episode for this place yet? I don’t think i could get married anywhere that’s been on that show…

No I have not, but I’m sure they have made a lot of improvements since then! A lot of places on that show and Bar Rescue are really thriving now after being featued on the shows. I wouldn’t automatically eliminate a place just because of being on the show! Thanks for the heads up though!

Being in the midwest, I tend to travel a lot to nearby states pretty frequently when I want to visit nearby cities, so for me a couple hour drive for a wedding seems totally manageable! I would suggest finding close accomodations for guests though, and making sure that there will be enough room for all of your guests to stay there. Also, it would probably be a good idea to decide if you want to make it an overnight/weekend trip and let guests know so they can plan for it. Also, you might want to decide/plan if you are going to do any group activities like a brunch or something with your guests the next day.
I would suggest planning something for your close friends and family for the weekend trip, and having the other guests stay overnight and then say goodbye to them before they take off!
