So in my photographers contract we have to provide her with a meal. So do we send them an invite since our guests have a food choice? Also do we provide a space for them at one of the guest tables? What other vendors do we need to include, if this is true?

@wmk6: Does your caterer offer a discount meal for vendors?

Both our photographer and our officiant asked that we send them one, a) because they like invitations (photographer wants to have one to take photos of), and b) so they know the details.
As far as meals and space go, it depends on your venue. Some venues treat vendors like shit–crappy meals and making them eat in a back room (or even the basement). Our officiants probably won’t come to the reception, but we’ll most likely toss our photographer and her husband/second shooter in with our friends so they can eat. There’s not really anywhere else for them to go in our venue, anyway (except the kitchen, I guess?).

@wmk6: I can’t imagine your photographer wanting to sit down for the full meal at a guest table – they’re working and that’s a lot of time they’ll miss taking pictures, which is not only what they’re there for but also what they enjoy. They’ll be taking guest photos and decor photos while people are eating. Our caterer does vendor meals and the vendors ate inside the venue away from the wedding and took about 15 minutes for dinner. And it wasn’t me who was telling them to eat quickly (I could have cared less) – they were scarfing their food because they didn’t want to miss taking sunset shots!

I sent them invites and they have seating as well. However, ours is more casual.
