Ladies it has been real, but I do have to go.  Thank you to most of you for having a intelligent, respectful debate without throwing insults and not too much unladylike language.  The beauty of America is that we can agree to disagree and we all have freedom to express our own opinions weather you agree with them or not.  Chao

justanormalgal :  “I do not see anything President Trump has said or done as racist.  He only became racist after he annouced running for President. “

These two sentences…literally typed BACK TO BACK by yourself…are completely contradictory. So you don’t think he’s done anything racist. But actually he is a racist, but only for the last few years. Got it.

hispanicimpressions :  what’s sad is that after I knew that my husband was out of the woods, on his second day, I started worrying about what it was going to cost us. They would come into his room and scan the bar code on his medications that they hung up on his iv pole and I was just imaging the cost climb

It’s really sad that we need to be worried about just how bad the bill is going to be when we are sitting at our loved ones bedside

llevinso :  He only became referred to as racist by the media when he annouced he was running for President.  Is that better?

justanormalgal :  That actually is a better description that makes much more sense. It’s still completely and totally incorrect, but at least now you’re not contradicting yourself.

I mean, the media didn’t force him to call Mexicans rapists and murders. The media didn’t start the conspiracy birther movement against Obama. The media didn’t call white supremacist neo nazis good people. The media didn’t take forever and a day to disavow endorsements from David Duke. The media didn’t make Steve Bannon his chief strategist. But whatevs dude.

ETA: I can’t believe in 2019 we have a president that #1 says such horribly RACIST things like this (and yes it is RACIST) and #2 that we have to explain that statements like “go back to where you came from” and “send her back” are obviously racist!

lol @ people who aren’t bothered by people dying because they can’t afford insulin, but get their knickers in a twist over a few f-bombs.

Really not laughing. Just incredulous.

happiekrappie :  Exactly! White supremacy is an equal opportunity employer. Its needs people of color to believe in it/support its principals in order for it to thrive. SMDH…

justanormalgal :  I actually think the way you view the world is not uncommon among the minority of people who manage to climb across social classes –“if I could do it, why can’t others?” I’ve seen it a lot.  But the systemic data does not support your position. You are very focused on the people you anecdotally know in your life who fuck up and sort of deserve their poor plot in life (in your mind), but you’re blinded to those who suffer through no fault of their own and how precarious your own position is.  You are also blinded somewhat to the privilege that keeps rich kids protected from consequence — I suspect because you didn’t grow up with them. I did — rich kids fuck up at pretty high rates too, but the system doesn’t punish them in the same way. One of my best friends in childhood got caught for shoplifting (She could afford it, she enjoyed the thrill) — we arent jn touch anymore, but I see she is working for a prestigious law firm pulling in 200K+/year. I doubt her poor counterpart would get to bounce back in the same way. Life is not fair and the rules are rigged — your argument would make sense to me if it was fair, but I do not believe it is. Good, hard working people get sick and die every single day.

Sansa85 :  Ugh that sounds so stressful and horrible! I feel incredibly fortunate that I’ve literally never had to think about costs in relation to any doctors or hospital visits. We have our fair share of problems here (not least the buffon that became PM today) but the UK should feel so proud of the NHS.

justanormalgal :  Only the emergency must be addressed by the ER. So if you need ongoing treatment for, say, cancer, you cannot get that through the ER. So you are not denied emergency, life-saving treatment from an accident, but you are not given life-prolonging treatment for a chronic condition. So the person with cancer and no insurance does NOT get the treatment they need. A chronic disease with no insurance is often a death sentence.

justanormalgal :  Everyone has access NOW because of the ACA. I myself was personally denied coverage after I used my COBRA coverage due to preexisting conditions. Before the ACA I was denied by the three biggest insurers in the country (USA). I even asked for emergency only coverage. Nope. So I got on a list to wait for high risk state coverage.  Guess what I would have to have been 6 months without coverage. And after that I get put on a waiting list for coverage. People died waiting. I got lucky to get a job with coverage some months later. But in the interim I rationed my meds and paid cash price. It sucked. It was scary. And I did nothing to deserve it.

So no choosing to be covered was not always an option.
