I’m getting married on May 20, 2017 in St. Lucia and I’m wondering when to send the invitations. We have secured a block of rooms at the resort and the hotel requires guests to put deposits down by January 2017. I planned on sending the invitations in late January or early February, but that would not leave enough time to ensure our guests take advantage of the room block. We’ve already sent save-the-dates and have included the cutoff time on our wedding website.
My mother suggested sending a reminder letter, but that’s more money in stationery. I’m wondering if I should send the invitations in November or December or just keep my original January or February timeline…what do you guys think?

Did you send a STD with booking info?

Does your wedding website have rsvp alerts or let you send an email?

Is there no way to adjuset the deadline? It’s pretty strange to expect your guests to book their rooms before receiving an invitation.

I think you need to send the invitation early. People won’t think it’s weird when they see the block cutoff. Also, you can’t be sure they will have gone on your website.

I agree with prior posters. You definitely need to invite your guests in a sufficient amount of time prior to the date by which they need to secure their accommodations.

- Wedding: April 2017 - Hogarths, Solihull
I’d be sending the invites before Christmas anyway, especially as guests have to travel.
I’m in the UK getting married at end of April and we’re sending the invites before Christmas! It’s notmal here to send them months in advance 🙂

- Wedding: October 2017 - Grand Sunset Princess, Riviera Maya, Mexico
We are doing a Destination Wedding as well. I’ve read you should send the invites 4-6 months in advance anyway so you can send them in nov-dec and you’ll still be ok!

Thanks for all of your advice! We’ve already sent Save-The-Date Cards and given everyone about a year notice. We also have a website with all the hotel information, so guests should be aware of the cutoff…but you know how people can be and they will wait until the last minute. I might send the invitations in November and just be done with it lol
@studentloansforlife — my website does allow mass emails, but I do not have all the guests emails yet. But I can definitely collect all that information in time for the cutoff.
