My invitations are going to be ready by the end of this week and my stamps are going to arrive by the end of this week. Initially I was planning to have everything arrive about two months before the wedding (so April 19) but now I will have them just sitting around. Do I send them early? Do I wait? Do I compromise and send them in one week (instead of two)? HELP!
I’m also irrationally afraid that if I keep them in our apartment there will be a fire and they will be destroyed. I know. I am insane.

I was paranoid too! But, I would wait. I feel like the more time you give people, the harder it is to get rsvps because people feel like that have time to decide, make their arrangements, they put the invite someplace ‘safe’ so they can fill it out later and lose it…i have heard all of these excuses as we wait for our cards to come in (we had two deadlines, an earlier one for out of towners so they had more notice and the local one)…

The to do list/timeline in the planning guide I bought when I got engaged said you should sent them out 3 months in advance, so that is how I planned my timeline, but then I saw things that said you should do it 2 months in advance. I had them all ready to go, and I am impatient, and I wanted to know how many of my FI’s out of state family members would be attending (we’ll have anywhere from 5-40 people from his side). IN the end, send them when you want to send them– if everything is ready and you are dreading a fire, then just take the plunge!
@ladyox– the 2 deadlines for out of town vs. in town is such a good idea– I wish I had done that.

i would wait. 8 weeks before the event is early enough, and any earlier than that is comepletly unecessary. you would have to send a reminder!

Ladyox and ClairDarling – that is my fear, that I will have to remind people or that they will not feel the urgency to RSVP. OK, I think I will wait two weeks from Friday (then they will arrive on or just after the two month mark). SO HARD! I want to send them out already!
