I am trying to decide on what our “Send Off” will be…
I would be interested to hear what other Bees have done!

Ribbon wands. Makes for cool photos but no chance of mess or fire.

I agree with PP. Ribbons are best. Whatever you do, do NOT use rice. It will expand in birds stomachs and kill them.

Bird seed attracts rats and squirrels, and confetti and petals make a mess. Do bubbles (as long as th3 floor won’t get slick) or ribbon wands.

We did bubbles, because I ran out of time and energy and forgot to plan anything better. The pictures didn’t look that good, kind of dark and grainy. I would choose something else if I could do it over again (or maybe talk to my photographer about it beforehand). My venue said no sparklers or confetti, but were fine with petals because they would blow away and be biodegradable. Be sure to ask you venue what is allowed.

We just skipped it altogether.

Haven’t had a wedding, but I love the sky laterns! Otherwise I’ll go with ribbon wands or bubbles. Sparklers are cool, but could easily burn you or others (like your photographer!) by accident. Look to pinterest for inspiration and let your photographer know what you plan on doing for the best photos!

We did sparklers and the pictures were amazing! We had plenty of veryyy drunk people and nothing caught fire.
we did sparklers, and the guest pics are GREAT (i was all hot and sweaty and messy by then, but even so you see the love and fun!). we had some druuuuunnnk guests, and we gave them each two sparklers…and noe one lit anything on fire. (as far as that goes, we had a bonfire all night and there was never a problem there either).
ETA: if you’re doing it for the pics, keep in mind how long you’ve scheduled your photog for. guest pics of sparkler exits are always just kinda “meh”. it takes some skill to take great nighttime photos with sparklers – so make sure you’re actually going to have your photog until the end of the night if you want (good) pics of your exit.
please skip the sky lanterns. they’re beautiful, but terrible for the environment – even the “eco-friendly” biodgradable ones. they frequently don’t burn completely before landing in a forest and cause forest fires ):

I don’t think we are doing one. Is this for after the ceremony, or after the reception?
We arent doing anything for the ceremony recessional, we are doing a sparkler first dance, and we are staying at the venue so will probably be some of the last people there so not doing a regular send off lol.

Ribbon Wands is such a cute idea… No Fire, No Mess, and Colorful! Thanks!
I agree about the rice/birdseed attracting pests… My venue would probably not apprecciate that. lol Bubbles was an idea we had, but not sure how it would look at night. Thanks for the advice!
I don’t blame you for the Send off being planned last minute… Im just now getting around to it and I’m 31 Days out lol We are thinking flower petals would be cute… And our venue allows them, but not confetti or freeze dried petals.
HAHA I have threatened this a few times!
Thanks, I’ve been checking out Pinterest and still a bit indecisive. lol Definantly won’t do Lanterns. They are pretty, but they did a lantern festival and let go over 250 here in our city, We are still finding the burners and frames everywhere a year after… Even though they advertised that they were biodegradable. SMH… I also don’t think that our venue in the Texas Hill Country would be ok with these…
Hahaha this is my fear! Fireworks, Hairspray, and a flowy dress… mixed with drunk adults!

Haha Sparklers would definantly have the best pics, When we met with our Photog last week he said he was going to be down for whatever we chose… Fingers crossed our adult guests could handle themselves… *Side note* Our venue offers a Fire Pit but requires a venue employee to stand there and watch it the whole time, so I dont think we will even bother lighting it lol Sounds like a hastle!

We didnt do a send off but we had a petal throw after the ceremony. We used bio-degradeable petals. I oved the idea of sparklers but ive heard horror stories and lots of venues dont allow them.

We did bubbles and I loved it <3 The photos came out really nice with them in the background and all around us.
