If I remember correctly, you can send a wedding gift up to a year after the wedding but I don’t think that’s actively practiced anymore…hence the question.
A friend/old bosses destination wedding is late August and Darling Husband and I are not going. We are taking a small trip around that time and will be a little strapped for cash in the weeks before their wedding and our trip. My plan was to send a congratulations card and gift card to them a few weeks ago so they would receive it before the wedding but I forgot. We’ll be strapped for cash for the next few weeks (and before their wedding and our trip) but after we will be fine cash-wise.
So, my question, is it okay to send the congratulations card and gift card a week AFTER they get married? I know they are honeymooning out of the country (I don’t know how soon after) but I would send the card/gift card to her parents house (they are funding/putting on the wedding).
Is that odd? The only reason I hestitate is because I got the invitiation MONTHS ago and it seems really last minute to me to send a gift.
Vote and let me know in the comments! Thanks!
EDIT: I also hesitiate because we’re going on a leisure trip at the same time (granted, its MUCH less expensive than attending the wedding) but it seems a little selfish to me to go on my trip and send a gift later.
