Thanks for posting this.  So many people think that we show up and work for 8 hours, one day of the week, and go home with $3000 (or whatever we charged) in pure profit.  By the time your business expenses are subtracted along with the hours of post work the profit is very small.  It’s a lot like a teacher’s salary.  But we’re not in it for the money, we’re in it because we love what we do.

Here here! I actually broke down my rate and the hours I would spent on one of my clients weddings, and showed it to them when the asked about the cost. They could not believe it and actually felt bad for me. We do what we do for the love of it, not for the money. But we do have bills to pay. Weddings are amazing to me. You get to share a capture the day that is the pinnacle of a couple’s love for one another. There is nothing better than that.
