I was going to rock the dress at a bar, but #1) my husband picked kind of a skeevy bar #2) it was SO HOT we were all sweaty, and #3) um… I wanted out of the dress

What we did is this: everyone piled in the limo, then we dropped our friends off at the bar.  The two of us went back to the hotel, showered, you know, and put on different clothes (I packed a cute dress for myself and a nice silk shirt and khakis for him, plus I totally rocked my veil and head of curly post-updo hair).  Then we went back to the bar and met up with everyone who was having a fine time without us.

We intended to head to a bar after our wedding ended, and I was fully prepared to rock that wedding dress at the bar!! We were in the car on our way there and my husband (:-D), who had too much to drink, passed out, so we headed home instead (and then he spent 2 hours hugging the toilet… smart, honey). My theory was- you only get to wear the dress once, make it as long as possible!!! Plus, think of how exciting it would be if a bride in a wedding dress came into a bar you were at… people love brides!

We have to have everything cleaned up and be out of the park I’m having my reception at by 10 pm.  I’m not doing a sendoff cause it’s a US Destination Wedding.  But I’m thinking most of my friends there will want to head to one of the bars on the beach to hang out some more and drink(many of my guests haven’t seen each other in years so it will be a huge reunion as well).  I’m wearing my dress all night until I get back to our condo.  I will totally stroll into any bar we choose in my wedding dress and head up to the bar and ask the bartender for a drink ๐Ÿ™‚

We had an after party in a bar, but to be fair the bar was just 2 floors down in the same hotel. I agree with almostmrsj, I was sooooo hot and sweaty I needed to change. I’d already been wearing the dress for 12 hours at that point all over the city for photos, and dancing my behind off for 4 hours at the reception. I needed to change. I’m pretty sure the dress didn’t even smell good at that point. I had a cute flowy white sundress to put on for the bar. Again, it was all within the same hotel so it was easy to change in my room. I left on all my jewelry and makeup, though, so I still felt bridal.

It was at least 90 on our wedding day and my dress was big and satin.  His black tux wasn’t cool either, since we were outside in the sun and then in a greenhouse with no AC.

We also really wanted to, you know, get it on, before we went back to the bar since by the time we got back from having MORE to drink at 4am, we just passed out.  ๐Ÿ™‚

I wore mine at our after party!  You only get one day to wear it, make the most out of it!

After our reception, I wore my dress bar hopping in downtown Seattle till quittin’ time. Loads of cars honking at the wedding party, tons of strangers shouting their congrats… it was awesome. But yeah, I rocked that bad boy of a ballgown as long as I possibly could. I would have slept in it if it hadn’t been so huge lol.
