Oh no!!  That’s terrible, I’m so sorry!  Can you take them to the post office and ask for further explanation?  I don’t understand the whole stamp thing anyway…it all seems so silly!

how would the mailman know there wasn’t enough postage? They get weighed at the post office.

to know who got them, you’ll have to cross reference the returned ones with the ones that didn’t get returned back.

and when you go to do your invites, take them to the post office and get their confirmation on how much postage you need. they’ll weigh them for you.

if your Save-The-Date Cards were a different shape or size, yes, you could have the wrong postage amount on them. like, if they were postcards or something.

I guess I don’t quite understand how you don’t know who got them.  If the envelopes came back to you because they don’t have enough postage, there should be the name and address of who it was to go to right there on the envelope (so obviously they didn’t get theirs).

And I second ejs4y8 recommendation of taking them to the post office and weighing them.  Many things mailed for wedding require more than standard postage!

Yeah, I’m a little confused too as how you don’t know who didn’t get them. The returned ones have the addresses on the envelope. Even if they scribbled all over them in Sharpie, you can probably make out enough of the address to figure it out.

EEEK sorry this happened to you…a weird thing happened to us too, but we went to the post office and had them weighed….the weird thing was the first half we sent were less costly than the second batch….which doesn’t make sense since we had them weighed at the same PO

Sorry this happened to you.  The square envelope is your problem—square envelopes require extra postage.  So the postman didn’t HAVE to weigh it to know.  Anyway, I would probably call your guest list and try to track down who got one and who didn’t.  And for those who didn’t get one, mail them another or scan your save the date and send an email version.  Good luck!

Yep we had this happen to our wedding invitations. My mom’s neighbor came back with not enough postage but yet my mom got her’s.  And the people in Hawaii got (we are in Texas) got their’s.  So when they are returned to you then just re-send them. I put ours in a new envelope and just resent it that way.

It’s easy to figure out who didn’t get them: resend the ones that got sent back! 🙂
