wolfeyes :  I cry at everything. I cry at films, TV and adverts. I can’t watch adverts on TV before Christmas because the Christmas adverts one after the other mean I end up crying so much I get a headache. I even cry at the radio.

I cried a lot in the lead up to the wedding, some out of stress and some out of sentimentality. I can’t think about my wedding day without welling up but on the day I was mostly OK. I had a little cry during my dad’s speech but that was the one thing I hadn’t thought would be sentimental.

In the event you do cry: blow your nose before you put your makeup on, clear out all the junk so there’s less chance of snot going everywhere. Use waterproof mascara and get it before the wedding in case you have an unpleasant reaction to it (if you don’t have a preferred brand already). Have your mum or bridesmaids carry a pack of tissues and stick one in a handy place (down your bra). Try to find five minutes by yourself so you can sort through some emotions and have a breather. If you cry, you cry. If the photographer can’t capture it as a good picture then they won’t show it you and so you will never know how bad you looked. Everyone else won’t think anything of it and just be touched by your emotions.

I was also super worried about this! I always cry at weddings (even strangers on TV lol) and basically even thinking about almost everything at the wedding made me tear up leading up to it. I thought I would be a disaster! I actually couldn’t even get through practicing my vows without crying so eventually I gave up and hoped for the best! My sister/MOH carried Kleenex for us so she could give me some as needed during the ceremony.

Anyway, the feeling of the actual day happening is so weird that I actually didn’t cry that much! I teared up a number of times but tears never started falling down my face. The trick was to catch them almost in my eye with the Kleenex lol. So, as someone who shared this fear, I’d say that you should have Kleenex on hand (with Maid/Matron of Honor or in your husband’s pocket or something) so you can use it, but you likely won’t cry as much as you think. Also, embrace it if you do tear up! I love seeing the emotion with the bride and groom when I’m a guest (obviously I like a good cry haha). My husband even teared up a bit which was really sweet. (Also funny story I grossly handed my sister my Kleenex back since I didn’t know what to do with it and she surreptitiously threw it on the floor behind her lol). Good luck!

wolfeyes :  the best way to test makeup for crying is to wear it often (maybe you’ll cry one day) and wear it while working out, try it overnight. etc. I wore mine at funerals and everything. I love blinc (tube) mascara – even if you want to wear another mascara, put this on on top. On the bottom, I wear Marc jacobs highliner in crayon- I don’t put it in my waterline and then I go over it w a tiny bit of mac black eyeshadow, I blend it a tiny bit w a brown mac eyeshadow and then I dab underneath it w Ben nye banana powder to keep it from traveling, then I brush the excess banana powder away very well after a few minutes. I never touch my eyes. This works (and also works if you add fake lashes). My make up stays best if I don’t use any tissues and just leave my face alone and let it airdry. At the absolute most, I’ll dab under my nose if tons of moisture is collecting there or I’m worried I’m getting snotty. People always say that they can’t believe that I did my makeup myself and/or that I never look like I just (cried, exercised, etc.).

I can’t even count how many times I cried at our wedding (our photographer laughed at both of us for months afterwards haha)… dab, don’t rub, and let your makeup artist know that it’s going to be an issue so she gives you waterproof everything 😉
