Keeping all the same accounts we had and managing them the same way, but adding each other on so we have visibilty and access to everything.  It was just easier this way since we are used to managing what we each make and it was easier to keep track of if the accounts looked “right” without having to consult each other about everything.

We have two seperate accounts, but it’s only because I manage the finances and so Darling Husband has a “budget”. So all of our money goes into my account, then I transfer some to him so he has money for his expenses as well as if he just wants to pick something up for himself. 😀

We decided to ‘join’ our accounts shortly after moving in together.  At first I kept up my old account, but that has been left to the wayside.  It is easier when it comes to bill paying.  I also think that it has made me a bit more responsible with my money because I know that my Fiance has access to see what I spend!

We are going to open a joint account to cover all the bills which are currently split down the middle … but other than that, we’re keeping our own finances separate, at least at first. We figure combining finances will be a long and slow process that we don’t need to jump into right away. Especially since we’re at a point in our lives where we can afford to be a little more spendy, so we don’t want to begrudge each other the things we want to buy while we don’t have any kids to worry about!

Eventually we’ll work towards combining more, though, since someday we will have children and I’d like to take a lot of time off work to raise them … so his and hers wouldn’t work too well if I’m not bringing home any money at all Tongue Out But we’ve got a few years yet before we need to worry about that!

Right after we were engaged and Fiance moved in with me, we cancelled our separate accounts and made a joint account.  It was just much easier that way for us to have it all in one than have our own accounts and move money around when buying things for the house.  That was too much of a pain in the butt in my eyes.  We’re both very careful with our money and don’t spend away so we knew we wouldn’t have any issues regarding one person making unnecessary purchases, etc.  If there is something either of us wants to buy that’s a bit costly, we will ask and go from there.  It’s worked out great so far.

Right now we are seperate, we may or may not go joint. So far though we havn’t discussed it much because it hasn’t been an issue.  Just once while brushing our teeth I asked “Should we have a joint account?” and he said, “Sure why not?”

But it never happened haha…

We will always have our separate along with joint.  Only reason I keep my own is because my paycheck is directly deposited.  My electric is automatically withdrawn from that account as well.  I have considered changing those two things to cancel it.

We have a joint account (that was hubs personal account that we added my name to and made into a joint) and I have my own separate account.  We were all for joint accounts, but we’ve been keeping mine open since I was paying for bills from my old house, and now that it’s sold, we decided to put the money into my account since it already has a savings account (the joint doesn’t).  No plans to close my personal one, as we’re thinking of using it to save up for big purchases (mostly vacations).

we have separate checking accounts & one JOINT checking account. we each deposit an equal amount of money from our personal accounts into the main one a month & pay bills, rent, joint expenses out of that. we also put in a budget to go out to eat, etc. so when we go out to dinner, pay the electric bill its just one card/check. we have our own seperate savings accounts & just opened our own together (we deposit an equal amount into it each month)….FYI, we’re engaged not married yet

Individual/seperate checking accounts, and a combined savings account that we’re contributing to for a house downpayment.  Once we buy a house, that account will be used to pay the mortgage and house-related purchases only.
