So, my husband just got his acceptance letter to the academy for his dream job, and since we have both been searching for a good job since we graduated from university 3 years ago this is huge! This has been up in the air forever, with budget cuts looking like the state wouldnt hire anymore troopers for a long time, cancelling academys, etc. We are so happy of course, and I am so proud of him, but now I will be separated from my husband for 6 months. We will have been married for a year this coming July, but he will be gone and I wont get to spend our first anniversary with him. 🙁 I will also get to join the ranks of police wives who get to worry about their husbands 24/7. Talk about bittersweet. Any other police/state trooper wives out there?

My SO is a volunteer fire fighter, so while my worry isn’t 24/7. I do worry when he does go out on calls. Good luck!

Not related to any form of law enforcement but my Darling Husband also moved for a job the month before our first anniversary. We really struggled to through the first 3-4 months of seperation and now (around month 6) are kind of getting used to it. We have another half a year to go. I think you should focus on the fact that it is only 6 months and hope the time flies. Also, maybe you can meet up for dinner on your anniversary? I’mm not sure if it is a Sunday and if he gets any time off but just seeing each other could be a nice break.
