Hey ladies! When are you all sending out your STDs?
My parents keep trying to get us to send them out now because it’s a holiday weekend and they’re afraid people will make travel plans if they don’t know we’re getting married then. Fiance and I think poeple will just lose/forget about them if they get them now. We’re thinking January or February is plenty of time.
What are you all doing? Should you send out Save-The-Date Cards super early if you’re getting married on a holiday weekend?

I’m not the 1st. I’m the 15th. I planned on sending mine out 6-7 months out.

I am trying to figure this out as well. We are getting our e-pics done on Nov 6th. If we get the e-pics back soon enough, we hope to send out our Save-The-Date Cards ASAP, preferably before Thanksgiving. I am hesistant to send them after Thanksgiving because then they might get lost in the holiday cards. But like your parents, I wanted to get my Save-The-Date Cards out so that guests wouldn’t plan vacations. I’m not sure if January is enough notice. Maybe it is and I’m just worrying over nothing…

I’m September 22, 2012 and planning on late January/early February. As soon as the holiday craziness is over.

I’m September 15 and planned on sending them after Thanksgiving, so about 9-10 months out. We’re doing a destination wedding so everyone has to travel, although most of the traveling can be done by car (3 – 6 hours, depending on where they’re coming from). Everyone told me a year for destination weddings but I’m thinking 9 months should be fine since it’s not like we’re going away for a week to an island or something like that…just a weekend in wine country.

Since you’re getting married on Labor Day weekend, I would send out sooner than normal, but since “normal” is around 6 months, I think you’re completely fine with a January or February send out.

I am September 1, 2012 too! I am going to wait and send the out the first week of January. I am only sending them out to out of state guests! hope that helps 🙂

I’m hoping to get them out ASAP in January, so people can bid work vacation if necessary. I agree that it needs to be sooner, given it’s a holiday weekend. I was talking to a family ER nurse who will be invited, and she said she has enough seniority that she can pick Memorial Day weekend OR Labor Day weekend off..

I just posted the SAME board asking people this question. Glad I found your post!
I am also a September 1st bride 🙂 We should be scheduling our E pictures this month then I will get on sending the STD out. I’m just worried about it getting mixed in with holiday cards.

We’re Sept 8th and we hope to get them out right after Thanksgiving! People will be looking for special things in the mail due to the holidays and we want to give everyone plenty of notice – especially since many people need to fly in!

wow I feel like I over planned I am September 2 and I mailed mine the 2 week of september my family that vacations over labor day usually make plans a year in advance and I did not want anyone to put a deposit down on a vacation house at the shore and then not be able to come to my wedding… I figured I would state the date again in our christmas letter along with the website…

Thanks for all the feedback, ladies! I think we’re going to try to send them out before Christmas. Now we’re doing the fun game of gathering addresses 🙂
