BaxterBride:  So exciting!!! My BFF told me last month that her and her husband stopped preventing that one month and she was freaking out that she was preggers (she’s not ready yet). I told her we were also NTNP but not ttc and she FREAKED in a good way. So now she gives me oogly eyes anytime I order non alcoholic drinks lol. I just don’t really drink haha. Can’t wait to be able to tell her. Of course I have a cute way to announce it all ready to go!

Mimoza:  Aside from the dinner with close friends, I’m also meant to be going out for drinks with our extended circle this weekend. Ever since our friends got pregnant and announced to everyone at about 4 months there have been talks about who would be next and everyone keeps saying it will be us. So I feel like as soon as I don’t drink everyone will be questioning it!

I’m on CD 16 and got a positive OPK today! I feel like DH and I BD more than what is considered “average,” even before TTC, but we have hit every day since Thursday! Now that we are heading into our first TWW, I’m trying to figure out how to tell him if we get a positive this month! How are you telling your significant other?!

mrsdfarrar6714:  I was really lame when I told Fiance. I make cards for peoples birthdays/holidays etc so I made him a card before he came home from work. But I was shaking so much that that ribbon was all wonky and the lettering looked like something a 10 year old did. I wrote “YOU WERE RIGHT” on the front and “Your ‘boys’ really are good swimmers” inside and taped the test there. It was a running joke we had because I thought it would take a while but he ‘knew’ it wouldn’t because his ‘boys could swim’.

BaxterBride:  I think that’s cute!! My best friend announced to her DH with a card as well! My DH is convinced he has “super sperm” and that it only took once..guess we will see if he’s right! I have a couple announcement ideas in mind, just have to pick one!

I haven’t posted in a bit (trying not to go too crazy this cycle!) but am sitting here at 5dpo and ready to burst. I forgot how awful the TWW is!! I’m pretty happy though, because I ovulated at cd 19 this month (had been in the mid-late 20s for my previous postpartum cycles) so now I’m not sure if I want to take vitex and licorice root next month if I get a bfn. I just want to move my ovulation date earlier, so we can get an extra cycle or two of trying since we are only going to try through January, and then won’t try again until late June/July, since we already have one holiday baby and DH has a crazy busy season at work from January through March.

Mimoza:  Thank you ladies! Feels good to be able to be bummed in this thread, very few people know we’re trying so I don’t talk absout it irl. Also AF is late this month, I took one (or two ) more tests but only BFN… I guess I can’t hurry this process…

BaxterBride:  I love your husband’s confidence. I casually mentioned the fact that “baby making is not as easy as they say, even when you’re trying!” to my husband and he says “but we’re not trying”. Caught me off guard but he later explained that to him “trying” means doing the whole gamut of resources to have a baby (medical intervention of any sort) which i guess makes sense coming from him. But I told him that last cycle I was particularly coming on to him during certain times because I was ovulating (or so i thought) he laughed. He had no idea lol.

jen2bee:  Eeek! Always a good sign! FX for you.

All in all, I know I am very one track minded (is that the right way to say it?) and want things when I want them. Baby is no exception. But I’m starting to think that this time around, I don’t want to chart/temp/OPK…I also feel like I’ve fallen off the weight wagon and gained a bit more than I want. And in general, I’m starting to think that I should be healthier (stop eating crap, work out) before BFP.

Ok. End rant. Sorry for randomness today. My head is all over the place, which happens during AF.

I’ve been avoiding the POAS threads, since we’ve been dealing with infertility, but I have a question and I thought you ladies might have an answer.

We’re during timed intercourse w/a trigger shot (and a million pills), and I’m due in for a PG blood test on 9/21.

Here’s the problem – I don’t drink much, except for the occasional glass of wine or margarita (very rare)… except once a year. Each year, about a dozen of my college friends get together for a tailgate/football game weekend at our alma mater. We all stay in a house together – and we drink ALL weekend.

The game this year is 9/19 – so I won’t know if I’m pregnant or not. Is it dangerous to binge drink (more so than usual!) when TTC? It WILL be noticed if I avoid drinking, and if I’m NOT pregnant, I hate to make it an issue.

I’m also not sure I’m emotionally up for all the jokes about me being pregnant if I do avoid alcohol – only to come home and find out I’m not.

Thoughts? Tips? Help!

LadyBear:  There will be people that are firmly against drinking in the tww, and people that feel strongly that it doesn’t matter.  It’s a very personal decision.  I recently got pregnant on my 11th cycle ttc, and I was firmly in the camp of “drink til it’s pink”.  But since then, I read a book called “Expecting Better”.  It’s a pregnancy book about all of the things people/doctors tell you to avoid during pregnancy and the actual science behind why.  The author is an economist and analyzes data from medical studies all over the world about all of these things that you’re not supposed to have/do during pregnancy, and she wrote this book about which ones you should worry about and which ones are just people being really overcautious.

In the chapter about ttc, she writes that drinking during the tww would not affect the baby whatsoever, but that binge drinking COULD affect implantation.  Before pregnancy, I would say I was a fairly heavy social drinker.  I drank 1-2 times per month, and typically would drink quite a bit when I did drink.  I wonder now if that’s why it took so long to get pregnany.  I think when I ttc in the future, I would avoid drinking heavily during the tww.

What dpo will you be on game day?  I think if I were you, I would do a hpt the morning of the game, and if you are 12dpo or later and get a bfn, I would feel confident enough to drink that day.  If you are less than 12dpo on game day, I would probably drink a little lighter that day.  But again, this is absolutely a personal decision and is ultimately up to you.  Sorry for my long-winded answer!  🙂

Hi bees, I forgot to update from my role call from way back on pg 2! AF arrived as expected on Friday, so there was no need to POAS.

I was considering last cycle as cycle 0 because we didn’t get to BD enough. Hoping for a sucessful cycle 1 next time!
