Ours have nothing to do with our theme at all.

N is really into fair trade, and I want something edible, so we decided fair trade chocolate. Future Sister-In-Law sells it as a fundraiser, so we’ll get 4 flavours, split them up equally and that’s it!

We’re doing homemade caramel for our wedding in September. Mmmmm caramel. The worst that can happen is A) I burn a batch, in which case I just make another. Or B) A batch turns out a bit grainy, in which case I make another batch.  I’ve made caramel a million times already, so I’m pretty seasoned and in the worst case scenarios, it’s not hard to make another batch. It only takes about 20 minutes to half an hour. Plus everyone that’s tried it LOVES it.

The caramel is such a good idea, and sounds so good!  We were planning on doing little smores bags.  We are having smores at our wedding, so we just figured it would be cute.  We are doing a destination wedding, so we are being careful about people have to haul stuff home with them on the plane.

We’re doing a donation in honor of my father who died of a brain tumor when I was 13.

@LeahP: Here’s the recipe for the caramel if you ever feel adventurous. My only tip is to make sure you keep a close eye on it, it goes from lovely brown to burnt in the blink of an eye!

@Treasure43: That’s a great idea. I’m sorry to hear about your dad. We’re also doing a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society in honour of my grandmother who’s living with the disease right now and won’t be able to come due to it.

We’re doing pure maple syrup in the little glass Maple leaf bottles. We’re getting married in VT on family property, and there is a maple sugar house on the land, run by my uncle. He offered to fill the bottles with homemade syrup for me! I’m also thinking of incorporating maple sugar candy…hmmm…

@FutureSpice:  I’m also getting married in Vermont in September of 2011!  We have thought about doing the maple syrup as well!  You can’t go wrong with Vermont maple syrup!

@bakerella: You can totally crash, no problem!!

@LeahP: That is awesome that you’re getting married in VT too!!! What part of VT are you getting married in!?!? You totally can’t go wrong with the maple syrup…not only is it a “Vermont” favor, it’s also the epitome of fall. I keep saying I am going to have a cider donut table for dessert, too…

I’m 2010, not 2011, but I’m a September bride so I thought I’d chime in! I’m doing plain white paper boxes I bought from Walmart ($20 for 100), stamping anchors on the outside (nautical themed wedding), tieing with cute 1/4″ navy blue and white polka-dot ribbon OR Red and white dotted ribbon, and I’m filling each with a single star cookie cutter and a handful of swdish fish (a favorite treat around here!). I might also add cute little “Thank you!” tags to the outside.
