  • Wedding: June 2013

Wedding Date: September 7, 2013

Engagement Length: 11 months

Colors: White, gold, and all the bright colors ever

Theme: Dancing and drinking and having a good time with all my family and friends

Wedding Party(#s): Technically zero, but I have my “bridal brigade” which is just all my close friends who are helping me out in general, our good friend who would have been FI’s best man is marrying us, and our gay mutual friend is our “person” as he so called it ha.

Ceremony (where): A local music venue/dance club called Holocene. They have an awesome industrial feel, are pretty cheap and close to everything in Portland

Reception (where): same as ceremony

Dress Style: I’m wearing a Sarah Seven dress that I got from BHLDN on sale. It has a swiss dot netting over it, and falls at my knees

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI):  DYI for both. I have a pixie cut, so hiring a professional for that would be a waste, and I prefer to do my own makeup generally

Honeymoon Location: Who knows. My vote is for a road trip down the 1 and 101, and Fiance wants to do Mexico

Flowers: Whatever is bright, in season, and available at the farmer’s market that morning. My bouquet will be dried flowers from Etsy

First Dance Song: This is FI’s choice. He is leaning towards “Earth Angel”

Centerpieces: Milk glass bud vases, clear bud vases, and spray painted wine and beer bottles filled with bright flowers and milk glass planters with succulents

Food/Menu: Pizza, salads and breadsticks for dinner and a dessert buffet with pies, brownies and cookies, all of which I’ll be making

Cake Flavor: None

Favors: I’m paying for people’s alcohol

DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ! One of FI’s coworkers is a DJ and agreed to DJ our wedding for $50

Bachelorette (when/what): I doubt I will. Maybe karaoke with my girlfriends?

  • Wedding: September 2013

Wedding date: September 21st, 2013

Engagement length: 14 months

Colors: Plum, chocolate, and silver

Theme: Hmm, we didn’t discuss a particular theme, but the wedding is shaping up to be be very vintage/rustic

Wedding party: 4 bridesmaids, 4 groomsmen, 1 ring bearer, 1 flower girl (actually, 1 flower baby girl)

Location: local hotel called The Bertram Inn, beautifully simple and the same place my high school prom took place

Reception: same as ceremony!

Dress style: White by Vera Wang, my sash is different and it’s going to be altered into a sweetheart neckline. LOVE!

Hair/Makeup: I am beyond blessed to have a Maid/Matron of Honor who is an extremely talented makeup artist and can do hair really well, so both will be DIY. Here is my hair inspiration:

Honeymoon: A week in Disney! Fiance and I are both kids at heart and it seemed the perfect fit

Flowers: Haven’t decided completely, but I love lilies and orchids

First Dance: “This Kind of Love” by Sister Hazel

Centerpieces: Candle in bubble bowl on a mirror tile. We will also have a few floral arrangements scattered on a few tables

Cake flavor: red velvet

Favors: individual packages of coffee grounds from Caribou Coffee (where we had our first date), with cardamom crescent cookies to serve with the coffee

DJ/Band/iPod: DJ!

Bachelorette: I detest bars and nightclubs, so my girls (including my mom and FMIL) are going to have a spa day before the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner

  • Wedding: September 2013 - Franklin Plaza

Wedding Date: September 29, 2013 (A Sunday Wedding)

Engagement Length:  Engaged very end of June, so, about 15 months

Colors: Lapis/Plum and Ivory

Theme: Not really a theme, but going for a traditional, elegant wedding.

Wedding Party(#s): MOH, 4 other bridesmaids, Best Man, and 3 other groomsmen

Ceremony (where): Franklin Plaza – an old bank renovated into a ballroom in downtown Troy N.Y.

Reception (where): same as ceremony

Dress Style: Alfred Angelo Style 217C – Disney Princess Belle Platinum gown with corset back.

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro hair and pro makeup

Honeymoon Location: Either a Carribean cruise or an All-Inclusive in Jamaica.

Flowers: Mini Picassa Calla Lilies

 @DeeVine1217: We’re bouquet twins!

First Dance Song: Don’t have a clue yet.

Centerpieces: Candelabras provided by the venue – so gorgeous.

Food/Menu: Way more than we need – lol.  We have A LOT of choices to make, as far as that goes.  I feel like there’s going to be so much food at the cocktail hour alone, that guests won’t even be hungry for dinner.

Cake Flavor: delicious vanilla cake and buttercream frosting.  Maybe some strawberry filling.  We are doing a small two layer cake for us to cut with cupcakes on a tiered stand below that for the guests.

Favors: We will be having dessert other than cake for the guests, so we are thinking of sending cupcakes home in little boxes to match our wedding colors as favors.  (We don’t like the idea of favors that will just end up in someones junk drawers, so we thought this was a good solution).

DJ/Band/Ipod: DJ!  We are having guests add song requests to our wedding web-site – so much fun!

Bachelorette (when/what):  Possibly a weekend at the finger lake wineries.  My Maid/Matron of Honor isn’t giving away all of the details, but she asked me if that is something that I’d be ok with.  Also sometime in late August (my youngest sister turns 21 in August, so we are holding out until she’s legal!)
