I have noticed there are some bees who hate second hand (not heirloom) rings, think they come with bad juju or something, what are the feeling with a second hand wedding dress?
Do you dislike the idea of one but okay with the other?

I don’t think anything can have ‘bad juju’. I think a lot of people just want something unique to them and brand new… but there are a lot of people that are superstitious. I suggested getting a used e-ring/wedding band at this really cool auction house nearby to my Fiance and he flat out refused. I was a little bummed b/c there were A LOT of really beautiful rings there. *sigh* I’m still gonna keep looking and maybe I can get a pair of earrings from there instead. As for the wedding dress. I think there are less superstitions about that and more people that just want a new sparkly dress all to themselves and the logistics of finding one that fits well can be complicated. I went with a new dress because I didn’t want to have to worry about ordering online from someone I don’t know and hoping it would fit right and look good on me. I guess if there was a secondhand wedding dress store nearby I may have looked into it.

I would care much more about my ring than the dress. I’m not so sentimental about wedding dresses, but I wear my ring every day.
That being said, I am not so interested in used clothing, but that’s because I’m squeamish, not superstitious.

The biggest difference between a second hand dress and a second hand ring is that if the ring comes from a happy marriage then it is still going to be on the bride’s finger and not up for “second handing” where-as you only use the dress once and then hand it on.
That being said, if the ring came from a happy marriage which ended in death then the ring still has “happy ju-ju” because the marriage it came from was happy.
In my family we think that jewellery can somehow absorb energy or something and therefore is likely to carry good or bad memories with it. In the same way that different gemstones are supposed to have different properties. So jewels has an almost magical quality.
Dresses on the other hand don’t come with that sort of mystical vibe. And again, most pre-owned dresses come from brides selling them on after their wedding where-as rings come from broken up relationships.

I don’t think there is any bad luck associated with it, I just prefer brand new things for myself.

I’m totally ok w/ a second hand wedding dress 🙂 I bought my dress at a wedding dress consignment shop, though I think that the one I got is actually brand new… but there were tons of awesome second-hand dresses there at unbeatable prices…and they looked brand new.

I just prefer everything brand new… I’m not even big on leftovers for dinner!

I don’t believe in the bad juju or whatever for rings or dresses. Turns out my ring and dress are new but I looked at second hand for both.
