Girl, I wish I knew. Weddings seem to bring out the worst in people when they should bring out the best. I have gotten into arguments with family members over stupid things involving the wedding, and even lost a friendship. People do just seem to go bat sh*t for some reason.

I think a lot of it has to do with the emphasis placed on weddings these days. Stress and emphasis that was nowhere near as prevalent 30 years ago when my parents were married….

weddings can be a social statement of sorts. A lot of people like to save face and be nice to you during this time, others will be spiteful, simply because they feel they are/aren’t getting the title or respect they ‘deserve’ during your special time with your fiance.

It’s weird. PLUS, there’s so much stress surrounding weddings in general that some people forget you and your fiance need peace and happy well wishes to deal with such a big life change. Some people act like your change is their own and they respond negatively (aka…. a lot of my single friends who couldn’t relate)

big hugs… best of wishes though. Yes, weddings bring out the cray cray in people…. but if you’re lucky you can manage it enough to stay sane and happy in the process! Don’t let anyone steal that joy.

Because weddings are big events, and everyone wants to play some part in it….and not do anything to offend or embarrass themselves by doing anything out of the norm or unexpected, is my guess. They know what they’ve been exposed to in the past, or have been involved in one where they loved everything about it (or hated it), and throwing the biggest party of your life is pretty intimidating!
