My dress was in a white zip up garment bag when I picked it up from Alfred Angelo… but it doesn’t surprise me that DB didn’t do that…. but you’d think someone would’ve thought about the fact it was your Fiance picking it up! Sorry 🙁

They only give you the dress bag if you paid for it. It should be on your reciept and it is really weird that they put it in a clear bag with a guy picking it up. The lady at my DB didnt even want to unzip my bag infront of FH even after I told her it was ok!

Not sure about Davids Bridal, but there are other David’s girls here – they can chime in. mine came in a purple cloth bag.. and I know I didn’t pay for it.. must depend on the location?

I don’t know anything about DB, but it may also have to do with the dress designer?  Some designers may automatically send their dresses in garment bags while others don’t?

That SUCKS! Boooo DB!

I paid for a garment bag through DB, it was $10 – but when I got there to pick up my dress, it was in a clear plastic bag – so I asked where my garment bag was and they said “oh, we ran out of them”… um, then wtf did I pay you for??

They said “we will be getting more in next week, so you can take your dress home and then come back next week to get the bag.” Um… so I said that I was not about to bring my dress home in a clear bag for my Fiance to see for a week before coming back down to get my garment bag, that I paid for one and I expected that it be available.

I ended up leaving my dress there and getting it the next week, and they refunded the $10 for the inconvenience (of course, it’s a 40 min drive, so it was still annoying!).

I would call and express your dissapointment with their lack of thought on this one, BUT it has already happened……

I know it’s very stupid you have to PAY for the bag. I was thinking I just spent $600+ here you can’t throw in a $10 bag?! They specifically asked my when I was paying if I wanted the dress bag, maybe they forgot to ask you?

Oh I’m so sorry!  And yes, you definitely have to buy the garment bag.  I brought mine when I placed my order & brought it with me when I went to pick up my dress, but it did come in a clear plastic bag when it came in.  I’m surprised the sales person didn’t tell you this?  I know they don’t always have the best customer service, but I know my associate didn’t want to miss a sale.

I bought my dress at DB’s and I had to pay $10 for the garment bag. I was thinking the same thing too – i actually need to pay for it?  The bag is so thin and cheap it rips very easily so be very careful ladies.

I agree with @stlginkgo.  I would call them.

I didn’t go to DB but a similar type salon.  My dress came in a white (non see through) plastic bag.  If I had the option of a cloth garment bag, they didn’t tell me.  At least I couldn’t see through the bag!

Knowing the traditions and suspitions surrounding being able to see the wedding gown, I’m appalled that they would give you a see through bag for it.  I would at least call them up and complain for a while to the manager, even though there’s nothing they can really do about it since you already have your dress.  Maybe if enough brides complain, DB will start using white plastic bags at least!

They asked me what kind of bag, clear is the standard, $10 for the white. It’s pretty lame.
