Darling Husband and I eloped.  We went to Savannah, GA, just the two of us and had our dream wedding. It’s the best thing we could have done, and I wouldn’t change one single thing about it… It was so perfect, so romantic and so intimate. It was everything we wanted and more.

There is always family drama during wedding planning….I told my girlfriends that I would have preferred to elope and had a Vegas wedding or a Justice of the Peace ceremony with just the two of us….but after having had the wedding I could not even fathom eloping…looking back if I had eloped  I would have missed out on all the beautiful memories of that day….so I am glad we didn’t, but do what works for you sounds like other bees having had a private ceremony was just as special.

good luck to you.

“I don’t want to sound selfish but really why bother having a wedding if we aren’t going to walk away with a little savings to get us ahead a little.”  Totally Not Agree with you.  Wedding day is supposed to be the day to share your joy and happiness with your loved ones, not to make money.

Scale down your wedding.  Can you move the location closer to where you live?  You can also have a small destination wedding just you, your Fiance, and your and his parents and some closed friends.  Not sure if it will cost more or not but it should be less headache.

The only thing about a wedding, besides actually getting married, I care about is the dress. I’m getting my dress but we’re still eloping. You can find plenty of places to get married and still wear your dress, but it sounds like you’d really like to have a wedding and have your family and friends around you. I agree with Nat_can about maybe scaling it down and moving it closer. But to be honest, its your wedding, so do what you want. You said have 30 people who are willing to travel to the venue and share in your day. Consider it a savings for not having to pay to feed the others who don’t show up.
