- Wedding: September 2011
So my wedding was this past Sunday and all in all we only had a couple of minor things go “wrong”. The venue forgot to set up the lectern for the readings, no big deal our readers improvised and it worked beautifully and unless you knew we were supposed to have a lectern you wouldn’t have known.
My biggest problem was DH’s mother. Darling Husband was only supposed to go to the venue the day of at 9am for maybe half an hour at most and his mother and the mom of my moh were coordinating set up he was supposed to be there to make sure the venue didn’t lose anything from the drop off Friday til Sunday and tell them where we wanted things. His mother wouldn’t let him leave the venue until almost 10am leaving him half an hour to get ready and be back at the venue so he could greet our guests and we could walk down the isle at 11am, ( we went down at 11:10am)
Then I have had reports from friends that the entire reception she was bad mouthing us, the venue, the food, the cake cutting and the fact that we decided long ago that there was not going to be any “Smashing” cake in the face. We did the smashing cake thing at our wedding shower and she could have seen it then had she bothered to show up.
This woman takes the cake, and I mean literally she had the venue stop cutting the cake and serving it to our guests so she could take the cake home with HER, the whole thing was supposed to be served, we weren’t “saving” it. The next day we stop by her place to ask why (about the cake) she tells us she was “saving it for us for our annaversary” err no. Our caterer is making us a new top layer of our cake per our contract and she was told this even up until the day before the wedding. So we asked to take some of the cake with us on the honeymoon (only a couple of days in a B&B) and surprise surprise she doesn’t want to let us, only to have Darling Husband go down to thier spare refrigerator in the basement to get the cake to find out that they had cut it and had been eating it. Not that I cared but dang, atleast be honest about it and don’t lie to me.
Sheesh.
